@CTennisNation The other thing to consider is that UTR updates much more frequently and can be more volatile, particularly for college players. This weekend an 11.22 defeated a 11.47... after the event the winner is 11.29 and the loser 11.11. Was UTR right? If you check it AFTER the event.
@CTennisNation Who is taking snapshots of both ratings immediately before events and comparing the perspective of each team within the events? Almost no-one. Here is some "perspective taking"... in aggregate for this event WTN came out on top... but many would have a different perspective
@TennisPublisher Who is taking snapshots of both ratings immediately before events and comparing the perspective of each team within the events? Almost no-one. Here is some "perspective taking"... in aggregate for this event WTN came out on top... but many would have a different perspective
@JTweetsTennis @UniversalTennis The ITA announcement was very convenient cover for UTR's move away from ITA, which had already begun with bypassing their partnership and going directly to colleges
@noles_tennis@JTweetsTennis Why does everyone think UTR is blameless? Were they a good partner? Or are they predatory? It's a mix of good and bad. They'll get the data how they always have, as plenty of other innovators continue to get the data.
@noles_tennis@JTweetsTennis again, this is backwards. UTR is in business because it took results without asking. It was entrepreneurial and built something valuable and some did begin to report/submit. But the majority of data that they don't generate themselves is still scraped.
@latso2001@JTweetsTennis @UniversalTennis UTR has a great thing going with PTT and many independents have built phenomenal programs around the platform. Kudos for that. But they also could have been WTN if they played their cards differently; they're not blameless in how this is playing out.
