Well @SteveBarclay Consultants don’t hit 6 figures until 9 years after entering the grade (typically 22 years after starting training). We make life and death decisions every day, and our pay is 25% lower than when you came to power- why are the lives we save with 25% less?
This needs to be heard:
Patients aren't dying because nurses are striking
Nurses are striking BECAUSE patients are dying!

@Jack01810560 @Heccles94 Wow! You clearly have never done a day in health, let alone nursing. We have had pay cuts in real terms for years. We want to work in a safe environment, pay prevents that as it’s not an attractive career. But on top of that we see services and quality eroded all round
What about the number of staff who end up as patients, through lack of safe staffing, violence at work and burnout? Or those at food banks after their shifts? What concern does @DHSCgovuk show then?
We’ve been bullied for too long. Not any more. We’re standing up to you @SteveBarclay & you @Conservatives , stop your destruction of the NHS, stop putting peoples lives at risk, own your mistakes & put them right. You’re not fit to lead this country, you can’t look after people
Today, the government is dragging us to court to cut the #RCNStrike short.
We are clear: silencing nursing is silencing the public.
Share this to stand in solidarity with your nursing profession and NHS.
@StephJonesBerry Imposing a point of law is regrettable, treating one of the biggest groups in the country, who work tirelessly for the benefit of others as criminals, opposing this groups action is disgusting. Is it being a female dominated profession? Or as there are so many of us?
@Rainie411P5734@NurseStandard Is it because we are a high percentage of females? Is it because we are one of the largest groups in the NHS and it’s cheaper not to pay us properly? Ask @MRadford_HEECN about how many newly qualified nurses are leaving!
@StephJonesBerry @ora_dall@NurseStandard I loathe them, feels like personal life put on hold for the time doing them, they are exhausting. Short shifts, more frequently had better staff and patient continuity as well as extra time for staff L&D. And a better life balance with time left in the day for ‘life’
How is your organisation rolling out the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training #Oliverscampaign. We can all be doing the elearning now on elearning for health #RCNED23@RCNEdForum@theRCN
