MTC Missionaries GOING NUTS after beating Notre Dame 😭😭
The Ute missionaries don’t know, but they’re about to find out what BYU means to members and non-members across the world
Did BYU really “deserve” “earn” the win vs Notre Dame?
A lot of Notre Dame fans feel like the Irish had the game taken away from them.
The botched spike and fumble near the goal line before halftime. The controversial no-call on pass interference. And the final second that the Big 12 has since acknowledged should have been put back on the clock.
I understand the frustration, especially with how the game ended.
But here’s what’s interesting.
Parker Fleming (@statsowar), VP of Football Strategy at Dropback, published his Week 7 Net Success Rate rankings, and the analytics paint a different picture of what happened in Provo.
BYU finished roughly 20 percentage points ahead of Notre Dame in net success rate.
That’s a pretty significant difference for a game decided by just four points.
BYU had a 46.4% offensive success rate compared to Notre Dame’s 39.2%.
On passing downs, BYU was successful 45.5% of the time compared to just 30.8% for Notre Dame.
BYU also converted 8 of 12 third downs and scored touchdowns on all four red-zone possessions.
Notre Dame went just 2 of 5 scoring touchdowns in the red zone.
The Irish actually outgained BYU 376 to 360 and won the turnover battle. They had opportunities to win this game.
But there’s a difference between having opportunities to win and actually outplaying your opponent.
The analytics suggest BYU was the more efficient team throughout the game, even if the scoreboard didn’t fully reflect it.
Notre Dame fans have a legitimate argument about the officiating and the final second.
But the idea that Notre Dame was the better team and got robbed is false… if anything BYU almost gave it away on Saturday night through their special teams play calling and execution.
CougConnect took down the video of BYU DL Justin Kirkland admitting to the foul at the end of the first half of the BYU-Notre Dame game.

So much love and respect for BYU @kalanifsitake@Pouha91 and the people of Provo.
From the minute we parked, it was “Welcome to Provo,” “Good luck today,” “Go Cats.” People offered us food and drinks from their tailgates. Inside the stadium, same thing even ice cream at 2nd quarter . And their crowd was electric
I sat in ADA seating with my father in law and he was wearing his Fifita #1 jersey. People constantly checked on him and treated him with nothing but respect, even when Arizona made a play. They probably thought i was his care giver, lol.
Made me think, this is what real competition should look like. Welcome people into your home, treat them with respect and grace, then when the ball is kicked off, try to knock each other’s heads off.
We hosted our first league games Sunday , six games from 9AM–7PM. I told our staff: make everyone feel welcome. If someone genuinely can’t pay at the door, let them in. Let them watch their kid.
If we want to change the culture at the high school and college level, it starts in youth .
And I don’t think it’s a coincidence faith is at the center of BYU’s culture. Jesus welcomed everyone to His table.
Compete hard. Cheer loud. Want to win BAD. But still love people.
Appreciate the love , Provo.
BREAKING: The holdout juror in Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial has broken his silence, saying eight fellow jurors behaved like “activists” who wanted her found not guilty on Day 1.
Michael Desronvil said he concluded Clancy was guilty based on the evidence presented in court.
