What does the church or prayer have to do with the problems we face in Nigeria?
Is the church or prayer the problem? If so, how?
Why should the church be held accountable for the basic responsibilities of the government?
And now, if the church is supposedly “not helping matters,” how have those who don’t go to church contributed to or improved the wellbeing of the country?
Criticizing the church is easy, but the real question is: who is actually responsible for the problems we face, and what is each of us doing to make Nigeria better?

NIGERIA, LOOK BEYOND THE ELECTIONS.
Nigeria, elections matter, but elections are not enough.
A ballot can change the occupant of an office, but it cannot, by itself, change the spirit of a people. Our crisis is no longer sitting only in Aso Rock; it has entered our institutions, our marketplaces, our homes, our pulpits and our consciences.
If we change the man at the top without confronting the appetites beneath him, we will only give an old order a new face.
There are seasons in the life of a nation when GOD does more than replace a government. HE begins a deeper work of deliverance, reformation and national realignment. But in Scripture, such transitions were often preceded by a cry. Before change appeared in the palace, it was conceived in the groaning of a people and carried upon the altar of intercession.
Before Moses stood before Pharaoh, Israel groaned under the weight of Egypt, and their cry came up before GOD. GOD remembered HIS covenant and raised a deliverer. But Moses was not sent merely to remove Pharaoh; he was sent to bring a people into the purposes of GOD.
It took one night to bring Israel out of Egypt, but it took years of divine dealings to confront the Egypt that remained inside Israel.
This is where the matter becomes serious.
A Pharaoh can leave the throne while Egypt remains in the hearts of the people. The name at the top can change while corruption, tribalism, greed, injustice and the love of dishonest gain continue to govern the nation from underneath.
The book of Judges reveals this painful cycle. Whenever oppression became unbearable, Israel cried unto the LORD, and GOD raised deliverers—Othniel, Ehud, Gideon, Jephthah and others—to break the yoke upon the people.
But after the death of the judge, the people frequently returned to their former ways.
They cried because bondage had become painful, but they did not always repent because idolatry had become hateful. They wanted relief from the consequences of their rebellion without the transformation of the appetites that made them compatible with bondage.
Their cry produced deliverance, but the absence of repentance made preservation difficult.
A nation can hate its suffering and still love the sins that keep producing it. A people can desire freedom without possessing the discipline required to preserve it.
This is why Nigeria needs more than another election, another movement or another powerful personality. We need a genuine cry from the Church, leaders seized by divine necessity and a people willing to undergo the dealings required for a new order.
There is a cry that comes from discomfort, and there is a cry that comes from repentance. One only asks GOD to remove the pain; the other asks HIM to remove everything within us that keeps reproducing the pain.
Our cry must go beyond economic frustration and political disappointment. It must become a priestly acknowledgement that we have also contributed to the condition of this nation.
We cannot demand accountability from the government while treating accountability as rebellion within our churches. We cannot condemn the mismanagement of public funds while refusing to explain how resources are administered among ourselves. We cannot pray against tribalism in the nation while allowing tribal preferences to determine honour, access and opportunities within the Body of CHRIST.
We condemn corruption when it excludes us, but call it favour when our connections make it work for us. We curse dishonest leaders, yet celebrate dishonest wealth once the man who possesses it brings an offering to our altar.
The Church cannot be the prophet of a nation while refusing to stand before the mirror of GOD’S Word.
“For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of GOD.”
Whenever GOD prepares a nation for transition, HE often begins by restoring the altar and correcting the priesthood.

Church is a business, right? Then what are you waiting for? Start yours! 😁
Gather a crowd, give them what they want to hear, sprinkle in a little “God said,” wash their brains, collect your money, and build your empire.
After all, we all want to make it in life, right?
So grab the opportunity. Who knows? You might just become the next “man of God” billionaire. 😂
