Universal City, 2005.

A look at the original NBC Universal signage atop 10 Universal City Plaza, photographed shortly after the 2004 merger.

The building remains, but the logo has changed.

I see your point, but many of these residents have lived in the area for decades, long before this attraction was built. I think the discussion is more about how new developments affect existing neighborhoods, rather than people moving next to a theme park and expecting complete silence. 🤓

Noise concerns continue around Universal Studios Hollywood's Hollywood Drift coaster.

@UniStudios says sound levels comply with applicable limits. Neighbors we've spoken with say their concern is the intermittent rider screams, not necessarily the dB level.

You’re entitled to your opinion about AI-generated content, but sharing a video for reporting purposes isn’t the same as endorsing it. We’ve clearly identified its source, provided context, and disclosed our neutral position. Our editorial decisions are based on documenting the issue, not advocating for either side. I think we’ve made that distinction clear.

In the 1920s, subdividers ran this bizarro ad publicizing the agrarian Valley that looked like someone singed their palm on a waffle iron.

(For the unitiated, Owensmouth became Canoga Park, North LA became Northridge, and First Nat'l Studio became Warner Bros.)

From 2004: Universal Studios Hollywood's Priority Pass.

Used for guest recovery after ride breakdowns or other park issues. Guests didn't buy these complimentary passes.

No longer used; the park has since adopted other methods.

Shared for history from the Cow Missing archive.

I appreciate your perspective, but I think you're misunderstanding our role here. We're not endorsing the video, its production methods, or the campaign behind it. We're documenting an ongoing community issue and sharing the material being presented by those involved. Our reporting also includes Universal's position and conversations we've had directly with nearby residents. The goal is to inform, not advocate.

“Let Them Wear Headphones.”

Support Universal City Neighbors seems to be taking a humorous approach to its concerns about noise from Universal Studios Hollywood.

Quite the illustration for what has otherwise been a serious discussion.

We're sharing the video to document an ongoing community issue involving Universal Studios Hollywood and nearby residents. Universal City Neighbors produced it, not Cow Missing. Sharing it doesn't mean we endorse the campaign or the video's content. Our role is to report on what's happening, provide context, and fairly represent the different perspectives.

Universal has been there for 111 years, and residents have lived alongside the studio and theme park for decades. But the nature of the activity has changed over time. With film production declining in recent years and the theme park continuing to expand, new attractions can introduce different types of noise. I think that’s an important distinction when considering the concerns being raised by nearby residents.
