@TAARPR Is it to late to be added to a chat about a carpool? I was nervous and kind of avoided looking to see if anyone replied until recently... I'm not entirely sure I would go but I'm considering making the uncharacteristically impulsive decision to do so if I can figure out transport
@TAARPR -being organized sooner (meeting or protest)? I might be busy this and most weekends, but I could probably go to something most other days and possibly some weekends and I am willing to travel some distance. Anyway, thanks if you read this or reply. I hope you have a nice day.4/4
@TAARPR -whoever runs this account could tell me when the next opportunity to get involved might be? I must continue trying. I assume thereโs another meeting the 22nd (4th Wednesday this month) but is it at the same place and time? Also are masks required? And is there anything-3/4
@ibxtoycat This reminds me of an anecdote I heard years ago from a friend about a time he and another friend were on a bus and he said something about how he was going to change his skin when he got home, and this elderly woman overheard and was just looking at them weirdly the rest the way
@FloridaMGs@UF_IFAS Well, Twitter didn't exactly do the video quality any favors. I suppose I should have expected that. One can kind of still see the bees though (and also the random clusters of grasshoppers)...
@FloridaMGs@UF_IFAS I can't believe some consider spiderwort a weed, it's cool! Literally yesterday I walked past some and heard buzzingโI actually even took a video because it was hard to see in a picture how many dozens of bees there were. Pollinators love it as much as sunflowers and Bidens alba!
@ibxtoycat I don't even have words for how much it frustrates me that literally all of our public transit is like this, *if* it can even get you somewhere at all. Planes/cars are faster than trains, and my bike is literally faster than taking a bus, even for trips that are dozens of km/mi.
@ibxtoycat Also, I was looking for the exact date of that video and searched for the title and in the search results it literally says both "Streamed 8 years ago" and "New"
@ibxtoycat This made me wonder when I found your channel relative to that video and apparently it was a year later, ~7.5 years ago. I can't believe it's been so long since thatโI was probably a different person then. I mean, I was practically a kidโthat's slightly > 1/3 of my life ago...
I thought of gentrification as an urban process, but I've just realized an irritating phenomenon I've observed here is literally that, plus destroying agricultural land and also widespread habitat destruction and displacement of other (sometimes endangered/threatened) species.
It is interesting, the number of random things I consider tweeting about on any given day is probably not particularly variable, but the percentage that actually goes from idea->sentences->typed->edited/proofread->posted varies dramatically for reasons I'm not actually aware of.
@MyFDOT_Tampa@LakerLutzNews How will lane closures affect 54's bike lanes? Will the email alerts mention bike lane or sidewalk closures? What are "pedestrian / bicyclist enhancements"? Does it mean they might add bike lanes to connect to those on 41 south of County Line? Or at least a southbound sidewalk?
It would be really great if designers of non-car infrastructure actually looked at it from the perspective of creating a (viable) means of transportation, rather than just making a recreational area for people who actually just travel by car to the places they regularly visit.
In "Encounter at Farpoint," the pilot episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Q accuses humanity of being a "dangerous, savage child race" and he may have been wrong about Star Trek's 24th century humans but it's actually a pretty accurate description of us modern humans today
@Vokabre@depthsofwiki That page has so many great facts like:
Jackson's parrot that attended his funeral but was removed "due to loud and persistent profanity"
Lincoln seems to have been the first cat person to be president
Alligators (possibly a myth)
Amy Carter's cat named Misty Malarky Ying Yang
