4/ The smoother (χ) the electrostatic potential, the larger this trivial skin is in space.
If it's smooth enough to produce quasi-Majorana ZEPs, it pushes the topological region deep into the wire—making it completely inaccessible to tunnel spectroscopy!
The fluxoid valve represents a new type of quantum switch that could enable more sophisticated superconducting circuits. We also show that the valve effect is enhanced when the nanowires host Majorana zero modes, which are currently being investigated for quantum computing.

A new type of supercurrent valve based on tubular superconductors. @Q4Q_icmm@icmm_csic and @ifimacuam
We find that the supercurrent can flow normally when the two fluxoid numbers are the same, but it is blocked otherwise. The on-off behavior can be controlled by tuning the magnetic field or the voltage of a backgate.
