Didn’t matter that it was a contract year. All I cared about was the postseason and leaving it all on the field. I’ll always cherish my chapter with the @Brewers and now forever being a part of the wall of honor 🙌🏾

Just saw a major news outlet call Giannis’ time in Milwaukee thus far “underwhelming.” While nothing surprises me from modern ‘sports media’ anymore, let me remind you once more who you are dealing with here:
2X NBA MVP
2021 NBA Champion
2021 NBA Finals MVP
9X NBA All-Star
2024 NBA Cup Champion
2024 NBA Cup MVP
7x All-NBA First Team
2020 DPOY
4x All-Defensive First Team
2017 MIP
NBA 75th Anniversary Team
- Only player in NBA history to finish a regular season in the top 20 in all five statistics of total points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks.
- Only player in NBA history to average at least 30 points and 60 percent field goal percentage in a season (2024, 2025)
- Only player in NBA history to record a 35+ point, 15+ rebound and 20+ assist game.
- Only non-American player in NBA history to win the All-Star Game MVP.
- Only player in NBA history to have 200 points, 100 rebounds and 50 assists in a playoff series.
- Highest scoring close-out Finals game in NBA history (50 points)
- Third NBA player to win MVP and Defensive Player of the Year awards in the same season: Milwaukee Bucks, 2019–20 (Michael Jordan, Hakeem Olajuwon).
- Third NBA player to post a 40 points, 20 rebounds and 5 assists game in the playoffs: Milwaukee Bucks, 2021–22
(Wilt Chamberlain, Shaquille O'Neal).
- Fifth NBA player to lead his team in all five major statistics (points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks) in the same season: Milwaukee Bucks, 2016–17
- Most points scored in a game without converting a three-point field goal since they became an official NBA statistic: (64) Milwaukee Bucks, 2023–24
And this is only the tip of the iceberg. To call any of this “underwhelming” is a disgrace to not only Giannis and the effort he has put into this game, but more importantly, to the NBA as a whole.
This scrawny, nobody kid from Athens walked into a struggling franchise 12 years ago with ZERO expectations, and gradually worked his ass off to become the greatest player in franchise history. He brought a ring to a team that hadn’t seen one in half a century, did it with a smile on his face, and ignored all the pushback from the rest of the league to jump ship and build his career elsewhere.
Giannis Antetokounmpo felt like he owed this organization a chance at glory, and boy has he delivered every step of the way.
Underwhelming? Give me a fucking break. One of the greatest careers in NBA history has unfolded before our very eyes, and it comes from one of the best humans this league has ever seen.
Dirk was venerated for his loyalty in Dallas, and deservedly so. The same with Timmy, Kobe, and countless others who came before and stood their ground in the city that raised them. Give Giannis that same respect.
He’s earned every last bit of it and more.
Tyrique Stevenson wishes he could rewind this one! He taunts the crowd, but then goes up, tips the ball... and it ends up caught for the Hail Mary. Not the flex he was going for!
