"El camino recorrido no ha sido fácil, hemos tenido que enfrentar la permanente y perversa agresividad del enemigo, que ha acudido incluso a la invasión militar, al terrorismo y a un despiadado y cruel bloqueo, condenado por la abrumadora mayoría de las naciones del mundo, en su intento fallido de destruir nuestra Revolución y borrar su inspirador ejemplo para otros pueblos, de que sí es posible edificar una sociedad justa y humana, con iguales oportunidades para todos". Fifty years ago today, Jayaben Desai led her workmates out of Grunwick and into the history books. Not for a pay rise but for the right to be treated as human beings. For union recognition. For dignity.
At its peak, 20,000 workers; white, Black, Asian, male, female, stood shoulder to shoulder on that picket line. They didn't win the factory that time.
But they won something the bosses can never take away: they proved that migrant women are not prey, they are lionesses.
The same bosses who sneer at "unviable" industries, who split us by race and passport, who call us "unskilled" while we carry their profits, they haven't changed. Neither have we.
Join the Communist Party because the fight isn't over.
It's just waiting for us to pick it up again.

The Communist Party demands Britain confronts its racist and imperialist past.
Teach the full history in schools, the crimes of Empire, the subjugation of Africa and the millions made from human misery.
The British capitalist class was up to its neck in the crime of slavery. The royal family invested heavily.
Capitalism in Britain was founded on the enslavement of African people. Reparations aren't a gesture. They're a debt.
The only honest way to honour the dead is to fight the living system that carries their chains forward.
Not simply with statements. With struggle.
Join the Communist Party.

On this day four years ago, activists joined the #KillTheBill day of action against the Tories' Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill - legislation that curbed the right to protest, increased sentences and targeted Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities with new criminal offences around trespass.
The Bill became law in April 2022. Today, its provisions are being used to criminalise peaceful protest on an unprecedented scale.

EDITORIAL: Britain is burning and after fourteen years of austerity, our fire brigades are stripped bare.
Firefighters are being called from Liverpool to Dorset because other regions simply don't have the capacity. Firefighter numbers have shrunk by a fifth since 2010, while incidents have risen 22% in the last decade. A rapidly warming climate means more fires, more floods, more crises and we're less prepared than ever.
This isn't an accident. It's a political choice. And reversing it means more than just "ending" austerity, it means rebuilding what was destroyed. Read the full editorial and join the fight for the emergency services we deserve.

The Filton 25 verdict is a defeat for the state. After 37 hours, the jury was discharged after failing to reach verdicts on 14 of the 15 charges. Only one guilty verdict for criminal damage. The other defendants were not convicted but face uncertainty over a possible retrial. All spent up to 18 months on remand as terrorist suspects. That is punishment for political solidarity, not justice. The jury did its duty. That is exactly why Starmer's government wanted to scrap jury trials for protesters. Juries keep refusing to do the state's bidding. We demand an end to all prosecutions of Palestine activists, a full arms embargo on Israel, and repeal of the anti-protest laws. The state threw everything at them. The jury threw it back. We stand with both. #Filton25 #FreePalestine #DefendJuryTrials #ArmsEmbargoNow #StopTheGenocide

On this day in 1938, Clarence Norris was due to die.
Nine Black teenagers, falsely accused, tried by all-white juries, sentenced to death. The law delivered racial terror, not justice.
Langston Hughes wrote from Norris's cell:
"if you let them kill me
Are you free?"
That question haunts us still.
Today, the far right is organising. Reform UK, led by Nigel Farage, tries to dress itself in respectability. Meanwhile, Restore Britain, backed by Elon Musk and endorsed by Tommy Robinson, has become "a new home for old fascists". Its leader says Robinson is welcome to join. Mass deportations, burqa bans, a referendum on the death penalty, this is their programme.
Robinson himself has rallied tens of thousands on London's streets, stoking racist violence.
Stop and search is still weaponised against Black communities. Windrush citizens were invited here, then deported by a hostile environment designed to exclude.
Report after report finds racism baked into the Met.
These are not isolated failures. They are products of capitalism. Racism divides the working class and protects the ruling class.
Reform will not suffice. The system will not reform itself.
As our Party's Anti-Racism, Anti-Fascism Commission argues - confront racism at every level. Build the unions. Support community defence. Fight for socialism.
The question remains in our hands - are we ready to build the world where Hughes' question no longer needs to be asked?

As energy bills soar, the gap grows - some save, some starve.
While the bosses bank billions, families are choosing between heat and food. That’s not a market, it’s a moral failure.
We won’t look away. Don’t just watch. Act.

A statement from the Communist Party on the tragic death of Jason Arday.
The circumstances surrounding his death are a profound tragedy and The Communist Party demands transparency in Prof. Arday's case and calls for support for trade union motions on academic freedom, media accountability, and neurodivergent safeguarding in workplaces and educational institutions, to raise awareness of racism in media treatment of black academics and public figures.

In honour of the unveiling of the blue plaque at his former home on Ledbury Road in Notting Hill, we remember Asquith Xavier, the railway worker who took on the colour bar at Euston and won.
This plaque is not only a memorial, it is a reminder that ordinary workers, organised in their unions, can defeat racism and change the law.
