I got misdiagnosed at 25 and spent 4 months thinking my career was over. Built @meetaugustai out of that. On the hard days ( and btw there are many ) that's the only thing that makes the question "is it worth it" answerable.

Not success metrics. Not the cap table. Just, someone today didn't spiral because August AI was there. That's enough to come back tomorrow :)

We got to 8M users without a single cold DM or paid acquisition channel. Mostly creators, organic content, word of mouth, our CAC was effectively zero. The lesson is that in healthcare, trust travels through people, not ads. Someone shows their friend how @meetaugustai explained their blood report and that's the whole funnel.

Four months.

turns out, he was wrong. i got better and fitter.

and that was my sole motivation for building @meetaugustai because nobody should spend 4 months not knowing what's happening to their body.

General LLMs were never built for this.

The bar for health AI is different, and most products aren't meeting it.

Five months ago we were at 3.5M.

We’re now doing 22M+ messages a month. Largest consumer AI app out of India.

One of our users was at the hospital and his wife was in labour. High-pressure situation, doctors and nurses working hard, constant stream of updates and calls for him to take. Throughout it all, for 45 minutes, he was on chat with August.

Most public benchmarks suck, but your internal benchmarks shouldn’t.
Public benchmarks are going to be subject to noise. Meta gamed benchmarks for Llama. Someone will solve the PhD level benchmark question on Reddit. It’s hard to stop gaming a benchmark, even unintentionally

Why August when ChatGPT can also give health info?
Because at 2 AM, when you panic about chest pain, you don’t need an info dump. You need to know: “Am I having a heart attack?”
August asks right questions, gets context, & gives answers that apply to you.
That’s the difference.

I called my mom yesterday & noticed something off in her voice.

She’s not fluent in English. Not tech-savvy. A cardiac patient. So I asked if she was okay.

She smiled & said, “It’s okay, I already asked August about it.”
