Was every commencement speaker given a bullet-point list of things to say and the only bullet-point stated: "Talk about how AI is taking all of the jobs and y'all are shit out of luck. The kids will love it"?
If so, that seemed to backfire.
Went to the cinema. Turned my phone off. Film finished, notifications started coming in. Called my dad. Cried a bit. Can't quite believe it. 22 years. Surreal.
There was a tweet making the rounds last week about AI billboards in SF. After spending the weekend there, I came to the conclusion that, yes, those are the WORST ads. They say nothing. One was the word “Agent” over and over again.
I've been running the articles that go viral on X through an AI detector and about 80% of them are completely AI generated.
I don't think people has grasped just how much AI slop they are getting exposed to on a daily basis.
You: Prompt chat bots about poorly designed websites and generic copy.
Me: Discuss how time crimes and dragons fought over spreadsheet accounting dominance in the past.
We are not the same.
The talk of taste on this platform perplexes me. Seems performative more than anything else.
The people with the best taste probably spend little time here.
And for good reason too.
