SMFR is on scene of a brush fire, larger than 1 acre, on the south side of Cherry Creek State Park. There are no injuries and no structures threatened.
As a result, the swim line is currently closed and will remain closed until we reach acceptable conditions to re-open. For more information on blue-green algae please visit https://t.co/JbDIcDzH4y
ATTENTION: Cherry Creek State Park is experiencing natural algal blooms that may be harmful to dogs and humans.
CDPHE recommends the following;
• Keep kids out
• No pets in water
• Do not drink water
• Avoid contact with algae
Rangers found and captured a domesticated duck that had been abandoned at the reservoir. The duck, lovingly named Keith, was picked up by Arapahoe Animal Control and will be put up for adoption. Thanks Rangers for all your hard work!
Reminder: Arapahoe County is in a Stage 1 Fire ban meaning all fires must be in a fixed/permanent metal or steel fire pit. Regardless of the fire ban, fire pits, such as the ones seen in these photographs are not allowed anywhere on park.
SMFR is on scene of a water recovery at Cherry Creek Reservoir. A boat was sinking at the ramp and is now mostly submerged under water. A heavy wrecker is on scene as well to help remove the boat from the water. No one is on board. No injuries. 📸: @SMFRbuff
Rangers were able to capture this photo of the very elusive Cherry Creek Unicorn. They tend to come out during warm weather and sit near the shoreline. As always, be safe and observe wildlife from a distance.
