Luke was a doctor.
Paul calls him the beloved physician. Colossians 4:14.
And Luke is the only gospel writer who records what happened to Jesus’s body that night in the garden.
Luke 22:44. And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
The other three gospels tell you He prayed. The doctor tells you what the prayer did to Him.
There’s a name for it now. Hematidrosis. It’s rare, but it’s documented in medical literature: under extreme anguish, the tiny blood vessels around the sweat glands can rupture, and blood mixes into the sweat. It’s been recorded in soldiers before battle and in men facing execution.
The body of the Son of God was breaking under the weight of what was coming, and nobody had touched Him yet.
No whip. No thorns. No nails. Just a man on the ground under the olive trees, and the knowledge of what the morning would bring.
Now look at where He was.
Gethsemane. The name means oil press.
An olive grove on the Mount of Olives, with a press for crushing the harvest, great stones bearing down on the fruit until the oil runs out.
He went to the place where olives are crushed, on the night He was crushed.
And look at the word Luke uses. Agony. In Greek, agōnia. It’s an athlete’s word, the strain of a wrestler at the limit of his strength. He’s not resting in prayer. He’s fighting in it.
Mark says He began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy.
And then Jesus said the most frightening sentence a human being has ever said about himself. Mark 14:34. My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death.
The man who calmed the storm with three words, who had raised the dead, who knew the end from the beginning - on His face in the dirt, telling His friends He was so overwhelmed it felt like dying.
Matthew 26:39. He went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me.
What was the cup?
The prophets had already told you. Isaiah 51:17, the cup of his fury. Jeremiah 25:15, the wine cup of this fury, given to the nations to drink.
It was the cup of the wrath of God against sin. All of it. Every century of it. And He was going to drink it to the bottom.
That’s what He saw in the garden. Not the nails. The cup.
Now go back to the first garden.
Genesis 3. The first Adam stands in paradise. Every tree is his. One command. And he chooses his own will over God’s.
Then the voice of God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam ran.
Genesis 3:10. I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
The first Adam hid from God among the trees.
The last Adam went into the trees to find Him.
The first Adam said: My will.
The last Adam fell on His face and said: Nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
Now read what God said to Adam on the way out of Eden.
Genesis 3:19. In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground.
Sweat. The curse was sweat.
The sweat of your face, until you return to the ground.
And in Gethsemane, in a garden, the doctor watched the sweat of Christ’s face fall to the ground, mixed with His blood.
The curse that started in a garden ended in a garden. The last Adam took the sweat of the first one, and He bled it out onto the same ground Adam was made from.
One more detail. Luke again.
Luke 22:45. When he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow.
For sorrow.
Matthew and Mark just say they were asleep. The doctor gives the diagnosis. They weren’t lazy. They were grieving so hard their bodies shut down.
Three times He came back and found them asleep.
Three times He went back alone.
Could ye not watch with me one hour?
He asked His closest friends for one thing, one hour, on the worst night of His life. And they couldn’t give it to Him.
He prayed it alone.
And look at what comes after the third prayer. Matthew 26:46. Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.
He doesn’t run. He doesn’t hide in the trees. Torches are already moving across the valley, and the man who was face-down in the dirt stands up and walks toward them.
The fight was over. It was won on His knees, before a single soldier arrived.
Now you.
Some of you are in your garden right now.
You’ve prayed for the cup to pass. You’ve asked three times. Thirty times. You’ve fallen on your face over a diagnosis, a child, a marriage, a fear you can’t say out loud. And heaven hasn’t moved the cup.
And your friends are asleep. Not because they don’t love you. Because they’re tired and they don’t know how bad it is. You’re praying alone.
He knows that garden. He’s been in it. He sweated through it.
And here’s the thing about that cup. The worst cup, the cup of wrath, the one with your sin in it - He didn’t let it pass. He drank it so you will never have to.
Whatever is in your cup tonight, that isn’t in it anymore.
What’s left is the prayer. The hardest one there is. The one that turned the curse around.
Not my will.
He prayed it first.
Now you can.
When Yeshua referred to himself as את , saying “I am the alef and the tav,” (alpha and omega in Greek), which are the first and last letter of the Hebrew alef-bet, He was saying, I am the word of God, because the letters of the alef-bet are the building blocks of every word of God. The same word which was with God in the beginning, and became flesh and dwelt among us.
In modern physics it is observed that the atomic world consists of electrons, and what makes one atom different than another are the numbers of electrons in the atomic shell. In similar manner, each Hebrew letter has a numerical value. That is what makes one different than the other. And there’s more:
The Hebrew letters are not arbitrary symbols as with other languages. Each letter has a meaning. Each letter is a word in and of itself. Think of it like a word that has four letters is a word consisting of four words. Then each of those “inner” words are composed of more letters, which in turn are also words, and so on unto infinity. It will blow your mind to think about the wisdom behind the language of the word of God. No other language operates like this!
Also bc each Hebrew letter has a numerical value, this creates relationships between words that have different letters, but the same numerical value. And other things. I’m not into gematria, I actually caution against it. But it’s worth knowing simply the fact that there is depth and meaning underlying the Hebrew alef-bet, upon which the word of God is constructed which is beyond our comprehension. Some will go bonkers trying to unlock the mystery but it’s all very simple. The mystery is revealed. It’s Yeshua. He is the Alef and the Tav.
He is bereshit v’acharit (the beginning and the end); rishon v’acharon (the first and the last). Everything that was made was made through Him. Creation is beautiful and glorious because it bears witness to the author and finisher of it all. Shalom!
In Ben-Hur, there is a moment of extraordinary simplicity and grace. Judah Ben-Hur (Charlton Heston), exhausted and broken in the desert, is silently offered water by Jesus. We never see Christ’s face; only his figure and presence are revealed.
Not a word is spoken, yet Judah’s expression moves almost imperceptibly from despair to hope. William Wyler’s masterful cinematography gives the encounter an unmistakable sense of the sacred, suggesting that something far greater than an act of human kindness has taken place.
It is a brief gesture, a cup of water offered to a suffering man, yet it becomes the seed of Judah’s long journey towards mercy, reconciliation and forgiveness. In its restraint, silence and humanity, it remains one of the most moving scenes in the history of cinema.
🔊 Church: TOMORROW, Friday, is the last day of Tabernacles — and at sundown begins Shemini Atzeret — THE EIGHTH DAY! For the past several weeks, we have been watching the Fall Feasts unfold — and now we have reached the end: the final day, when the Lord calls His people to assemble and dwell with HIM FOREVER— A SACRED ASSEMBLY!! KEEP LOOKING UP!!
Here is what we have moved through:
📯 Trumpets — the wake-up call. The warning. The gathering.
🤍 Atonement — 150,000 gathered at the Western Wall. Israel seeking forgiveness. For the church — our atonement finished in Christ. Once and for all!
🌿 Tabernacles — seven days in temporary booths. Complete dependence on God. And prophetically — the very feast Zechariah 14:16 tells us the nations will one day go up to Jerusalem to celebrate with THE KING — yet as Tabernacles began, those same nations were gathered at the UN pressing to divide Israel's land, similar to what Joel 3:2 describes.
♾️And now — The Eighth Day!
Before moving to the eight day there is something hidden in the sacrifices of Sukkot that I found fascinating:
THE 70 BULLS — AND THE NATIONS
During the seven days of Tabernacles, Numbers 29 commanded Israel to offer bulls in a descending sequence during the seven days — 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7. Add them together: 70 bulls.
👉🏼Jewish tradition has long understood those 70 bulls as corresponding to the 70 nations of Genesis 10 — picturing Israel interceding before God on behalf of the nations of the earth.
7️⃣Now consider what was happening simultaneously this week. While the nations gathered at the UN to debate Jerusalem and advance the division of Israel's land — Israel entered Tabernacles. Seven days dwelling before the Lord, and according to ancient Jewish understanding —seven days interceding for those same nations.
🙏🏼So look at the picture we have this week: The nations are increasingly turning against Israel — while Israel is praying for the nations. Think about that for a moment. The very nations isolating and condemning her are the same nations Israel has spent these seven days interceding for before God!
Then after seven days — the 70 bulls are finished and the intercession for the nations is complete.
☝🏼BUT God calls Israel to remain one more day — just Him and His beloved, chosen people. THE EIGHTH DAY — SHEMINI ATZERET.
📖"On the eighth day you shall have a sacred assembly." Num 29:35
📖“You shall present a burnt offering, an offering made by fire as a sweet aroma to the Lord: ONE bull, one ram, seven lambs in their first year without blemish…” Num 29:36
For seven days: 70 BULLS and on the Eighth Day: ONE BULL.
📜And Jewish tradition gives us one of the most beautiful pictures of this day. After the great feast, the King does not want His beloved people to leave. It is traditionally pictured almost as if God were saying to Israel: “Stay with Me one more day. The nations have had their seven days. Now — one more day. Just you and Me.” A “sacred assembly.”
And THIS is where the Eighth Day becomes fascinating prophetically...
WHERE THE EIGHTH DAY POINTS?
The number eight in Scripture appears at moments of new beginning. Circumcision on the eighth day. Aaron beginning priestly ministry after seven days of consecration. And Jesus — rising on the first day beyond the completed Sabbath (7th day). The eighth day, resurrection and new life.
7️⃣Now look at where the biblical story ultimately goes! We know about the prophetic view of human history as a seven-day pattern: 6,000 years of human history followed by a 1,000-year “Sabbath rest” — the Millennial Kingdom, when Christ reigns as KING from Jerusalem.
But what comes after that seventh day — after the Millennium? THE EIGHTH DAY!
👉🏼Revelation 20 ends with the final rebellion and judgment, and Revelation 21 immediately begins with a NEW Heaven, a NEW Earth and the NEW JERUSALEM.
📖 “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people.” Rev. 21:3
The temporary sukkah — gone. The permanent dwelling — arrived, FOREVER!!!
AND THE NATIONS ARE STILL IN THE STORY
👉🏼The story began with 70 bulls — Israel interceding for the nations. These past weeks, many of those nations were gathered at the UN condemning Israel. Yet Zechariah takes us forward to the Millennial Kingdom and tells us that survivors from those very nations will do something completely different: they will go UP TO JERUSALEM to worship THE KING and celebrate TABERNACLES!
The nations are still in the story — but THE KING will be ruling from Jerusalem!
📖“...everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King...” Zech 14:16
🔥BUT even after 1,000 years of Christ's perfect rule, there is still one final test. At the end of the Millennium, Satan is released and “will go out to deceive the nations” (Rev. 20:7–8). Those whose hearts were never truly His will follow Satan in one final rebellion — and God will judge them.
👉🏼And THEN comes what we can picture prophetically as THE EIGHTH DAY: A New Heaven. A New Earth! The New Jerusalem!!
And look who is there:
📖"And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light." Rev 21:24
📖"And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it." Rev 21:26
👉🏼Those nations we saw sitting at the UN this past week are still represented there — but now, only those who were redeemed, walking in the light of the Lamb. No more rebellion, no more coming against Jerusalem, no more deception, no more Satan! God finally dwelling with HIS PEOPLE — FOREVER!!!
AND LOOK AT HOW BEAUTIFULLY THE STORY COMES FULL CIRCLE!
✨During Tabernacles, WATER and LIGHT were at the center of the celebration. The priests would draw water from the Pool of Siloam and bring it up to the Temple during the water-libation ceremony. And right there, during the feast, JESUS stood up and declared:
📖“If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.” John 7:37
💧Think about that! They were celebrating the waters of salvation — and SALVATION HIMSELF was standing right there saying: COME TO ME AND DRINK!
And then comes the other great picture of Sukkot: LIGHT. The Temple was illuminated by enormous lamps during the feast — and Jesus declared:
📖“I am the light of the world.” John 8:12
WATER AND LIGHT!!!
And where does the Lord take us at the very end of the story — beyond the Millennium, in the New Jerusalem?
💧The invitation that He is extending in Revelation is STILL: Water
📖“Let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.” Rev 22:17
✨ And the LIGHT?
📖“The Lamb is its light.” Rev 21:23
What Jesus declared during TABERNACLES reaches all the way to the NEW JERUSALEM.
️️️♾ WATER OF LIFE
♾ THE LAMB IS THE LIGHT.
️️️♾ GOD DWELLING WITH HIS PEOPLE.
♾ NO MORE DEATH.
️♾ NO MORE NIGHT.
♾ NO MORE CURSE.
The temporary sukkah is GONE!
The dwelling is FOREVER!!
🔊Church: For Israel and the nations, we just followed this prophetic picture all the way from the seven-year Tribulation, through the Millennial Kingdom, and into the Eighth Day — the New Heaven, New Earth and New Jerusalem. But for us, the picture of leaving the temporary behind begins much earlier — at the RAPTURE!!
👉🏼Think again about what a sukkah is: a temporary dwelling. And that is one of the most beautiful messages of Tabernacles: THIS WORLD IS NOT OUR HOME! THIS BODY IS NOT OUR FINAL ONE! THE SUKKAH IS TEMPORARY!
We are living in the wilderness, in our “sukkahs” right now, waiting for these broken bodies to be redeemed — for mortality to put on immortality!!
We are waiting for our BRIDEGROOM! We are waiting for our “sacred assembly”!!! We are waiting as a BRIDE TO BE GATHERED TO HER BRIDEGROOM — leaving these temporary dwellings behind to go and be with Him, and looking forward to the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.
And while the earth still has its story to finish — the seven-year Tribulation, the Millennial Kingdom and ultimately the final testing of the nations — the Bride will already be with her Bridegroom.
📖“And THUS we shall ALWAYS be with the Lord.” 1 Thess 4:17
And this is where we see the Jewish picture of the Eighth Day becomes especially precious to us:
“Stay with Me one more day.”
But ours won’t be just ONE MORE DAY — it will be our FOREVER DAY!! No more wilderness. No more temporary sukkahs. WE WILL BE WITH HIM, IN HIS PRESENCE, FOREVERMORE!!!
KEEP PREACHING THE GOSPEL, KEEP OFFERING THE LIVING WATER, KEEP BEING THE LIGHT OF THIS WORLD AND KEEP LOOKING UP!!! WE ARE GOING HOME!!
Maranatha! 🤍Come, Lord Jesus, COME!!!
“The man who is not afraid to admit everything that he sees to be wrong with himself, and yet recognizes that he may be the object of God's love precisely because of his shortcomings, can begin to be sincere. His sincerity is based on confidence, not in his own illusions about himself, but in the endless, unfailing mercy of God.” - Thomas Merton
Some melodies aren’t just meant to be heard, they can be experienced visually, too. Pachelbel’s “Canon in D” offers a captivating blend of music and visual beauty.
This is an absolutely fascinating film. If you have PRIME, watch it, invite friends over to watch it, watch it as a family. Learn to recognize the fingerprints of God in the world around us - from the stars in the sky to the DNA helix.
Unpopular opinion:
Traveling is wildly overrated unless you're genuinely wealthy.
People talk about it like it's the meaning of life, but for most people it's just an expensive headache wrapped in Instagram filters.
You spend months saving money, then pay ridiculous prices for flights, hotels, baggage fees, taxis, food, and tourist attractions.
The airport experience is a nightmare:
• Long security lines
• Delayed flights
• Canceled flights
• Lost luggage
• $10 bottles of water
• Sitting in a metal tube for hours with no legroom
Then you finally arrive exhausted, only to discover you're standing in line with thousands of other tourists trying to take the exact same photo.
Everyone says, "It's about the experience."
What experience?
Being stressed, sleep deprived, overcharged, and counting down the days until you're back in your own bed?
For me, nothing beats having money in the bank, sleeping in my own house, eating food I actually like, and avoiding the chaos altogether.
Maybe I'm missing something, but spending thousands to be uncomfortable in a different location has never sounded like a great deal.
The Holy Spirit communicates to us on three major levels and most of us are only tuned to one.
The first level is scripture, the written Word that establishes the truth.
The second level is the small internal voice that requires silence to detect.
The third level is providential arrangement, where God speaks through circumstances, people and events aligned so precisely they cannot be coincidental.
FUN FACT; The ego rejects level two because it requires stillness, and ignores level three because it requires trust.
Most people stay stuck on level one, because they treat the Bible as information instead of a living transmission.
SO,if you have ever said "God never speaks to me," the problem is not the transmission. It is you the receiver.
I just read a thread on X written by someone who recently resigned from Anthropic – one of the world’s largest AI companies.
This is a quote from his post:
“The people building AI earnestly believe that it could kill us all by the end of the decade. This is not a marketing stunt. If anything, many executives and senior researchers will couch their phrasing in the press to sound sensible – but I hear the same people express fear privately. No other human activity poses this level of danger.”
Here is what I take from his post:
Neither wealth nor health can save you or give you eternal life.
These experts believe humanity is on a path toward self-destruction.
But I can tell you with complete assurance – AI will not be the ultimate cause of this world’s destruction. It will be the judgment of God upon an increasingly sinful, God-hating society that has rejected its Creator and replaced Him with the wisdom, power, and pleasures of this world.
The apostle Peter describes that coming day:
“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.”
2 Peter 3:10 NKJV
Some may call this fearmongering. Yet the reliability, accuracy, and authenticity of the Bible have proven it to be far more trustworthy than anything this world could ever offer.
Before it is too late, choose Messiah Yeshua today. Do not remain here to witness the terrible events of the Day of the Lord. Put your faith in Him, be taken to heaven before that judgment comes, and return with Him to rule and reign.
Awaiting His Soon Return –
