@karpathy I have been using VS Code + AI this way for the past year and a half. Haven’t used Notion and Obsidian in a while now.
Started building a product similar to what you described to manage context memory, threads history, and KB maintenance in a single tool, fully offline.
Offline is the way to go. Many AI-assisted tasks don’t need to run in real time or require the most powerful models to be completed successfully. You can offload them to your local AI workstation while reserving paid inference services for mission-critical work.
@ryancarson Many of us were already making tons of money before GenAI, now we just keep extending our stack. The UX mindset was always garbage. But I ask: why would a super-unicorn want to join somebody else’s company? Kind of counterproductive, no?
@mkliku I got to experience the whole show in real life, from having a desk in a tiny kitchen to having a full floor in SOMA SF. We got to real-life gossip that eventually made it into the show. Every situation in the show comes from real research. It was both scary and hilarious.
@DannPetty “to be really good at figma” - what??
I code my designs faster than drawing them in figma. I don’t think “world class” means being a tool monkey. 🤷🏻♂️
@petesena The interesting thing is, when I bring this up to UX designers so that they can up their game, they actually get defensive and throw punches. Same when I said for the past 15 years that designers should be able to prototype in code. AI won’t have mercy.
