@Zo_bo_fo_sho As an avid book thrifter with a million kids (6) I think it's such an odd thing to say to someone. Like, one of my kids' rooms has two tall shelves full of books. It's cold and rainy/snowy here a good chunk of the year so there is lots of cozy reading time happening.
@cecsquared Happy Birthday!
My son turned 11 today!
And my nephew turned 7!
And my father-in-law turned, well, another year older!
Anyway, it's a great day for a birthday!
Anyway, huge houses where everyone has their own room/bathroom are very American; most families worldwide live quite closely. I sometimes dream of a larger space (a kitchen w/ more than 5 cabinets!), but our cozy home suits us well. It can be tricky, but it's not impossible. 4/4
I'm seeing all this discourse about how families with children *require* very large houses. I live with my husband & 6 kids in ~1250sqft. We have 3 smallish bedrooms & an extra room (the study) we double as a guest room. We have a full basement for laundry/storage. 1/
Also, I seem to possess the ability to arrange & rearrange furniture in a way that even when adding more pieces into a space, I can create extra floor space. During covid, with 4 kids & husband hybrid schooling/working from home, it wasn't easy or ideal, but wasn't horrible. 3/
So far today it has:
โขrained
โขsnained
โขsnowed
โขgraupelled
โขsleeted
and the sun has shone blindingly brightly between more grey gloomy clouds.
Are the conditions right for thundersnow? Fingers crossed!

Easter Vigil gang, checking in! I got to play recorder & read the 5th reading (not at the same time!), my 8yo read the Epistle & did great, & all the kids stayed awake the whole Mass for the first time!
Christ is Risen, alleluia!
๐บ๐ธ๐ฏ๐ต Everyone in Japan knows "Take Me Home, Country Roads" by John Denver.
We cover it all the time so I hope our American friends can appreciate it.
i don't buy mayonnaise from costco. i buy mine from samurai, a japanese workwear label that produces mayonnaise from the leftover cotton seeds they get from their denim production. thus it's menswear mayonnaise

@Zo_bo_fo_sho which she herself joined after her husband's death. Context is important! I think both the angry and the "hurr durr women belong in the kitchen" folks have it wrong here. The quote is her *acceptance* of God's will over her own in a difficult way. (3/3)
@Zo_bo_fo_sho that God's will meant she was where she needed to be at that moment. She spent 40 years taking care of her household *and* the poor in the community. She turned her household into a hospital to tend the sick and dying. She formed a community of women without formal vows (2/3)
