Americans not knowing Robbie Williams, not being in to Abba on the same level as Europe, not loving dance pop on the same level as Europeans, leads me to believe they are allergic to joy
One moment in history, I feel should never be forgotten is the Christmas Truce of 1914 during World War 1. The moments leading to the truce were tentatively engaged as both German and British troops were observing Christmas how they could in their trenches. After back and forth of Christmas carols sung to each other, men met in No Man's Land to shake hands and agree to a ceasefire.
Men from both sides, who were previously ordered to kill each other were now exchanging gifts to each other, swapping cigarettes, and observing services of their respective religions together. Games of soccer were also played.
While sadly, high commands of both armies would shortly after order the fighting to continue, and such truces were banned, the message and effect it had should never be forgotten. Kindness to your fellow man should never end because of the order of someone who will never be effected by it demanded it.
Hate modern football so much, people think its normal that games are casual days out for tourists and the rich like American sports as if we don’t have 150 years of local working class support being ripped away
