American is not special because it contains geniuses.

It is understandable for you to overvalue talent, because of everything you have built, and helped others to build.

But you could only have built it in America.

Without being shut out of every opportunity because they have to be given to the Glorious Leader's third cousin. Without being killed by the preexisting elites simply so they can take your stuff.

When you try to make America into an all-star team, the inevitable result is you being required by law to kidnap and molest a seal. Because people are not generic, blank-slate talent-in-a-can. They bring their culture and values with them.

This is one of those things that would sound insane if you just explained it plainly to an alien from another planet. Almost everybody living in a place like New York City who is responsible for the violent crime and/or routine disorder that you see on the street cannot actually afford to live there. Their presence is a policy choice. Like, we all decided that we should pay the most disruptive people to occupy the most expensive real estate in the world, instead of forcing them to migrate somewhere less desirable and expensive, which is what would happen naturally if we just stopped subsidizing their presence.
