@kis_soft I'm really looking forward to it! KB&M can be bad on my wrists so I've been holding off playing for official gamepad support. So excited!

Why Godot Engine? ✨
I made a thread some time ago on how engine choice doesn't matter as long as it does what you need. But I get asked more often recently why I use Godot myself, so here's a quick summary of my personal reasons ☕️
My reasons are these:
1. No account, no license servers. Under 100MB, very easy to download and get to work
2. Free and open source. I know the other big ones are also free (practically speaking), but to me this is not as much about money as it is about the peace of mind. It's yours to do whatever you want with forever. I see it as a safer time investment because there are much fewer ways to get screwed
3. The API and documentation are one of the best I've seen. If I want for example to resize the window, pause the game or run an OS shell command it only takes 20 seconds to figure out how to. I can focus on actually solving problems instead of fighting the engine
4. Flexible architecture. Godot is simple and lets you do whatever you want. If you want to apply every design pattern you know of - nothing is stopping you. But by default Godot isn't forcing anything on you
5. You don't need to install packages for basic functionality. Things you'll likely need in your games are in the engine, including a great UI system with support for theming, rich text, good input system, built-in shaders with a lot of features (like refraction), post-processing effects, dynamic GI, etc, all of that ships with the engine. There's also built-in tweening. Also there's only one render pipeline, so you'll only need to worry about engine versions when it comes to asset compatibility
6. Godot editor is a Godot game. There's practically nothing that you can't do in terms of editor customization. All of the knowledge you gain from learning Godot's UI system and the engine in general can be applied to making editor tools. Custom tools will help you make better games faster
7. Easy to modify and contribute. Editor compiles with a single command. Docs on compiling are very easy to follow. The engine code is also easy to read. Personally my background is mostly in higher level garbage-collected languages but I was still able to make some small contributions
8. A motivated team behind it. It's an open-source project so you can go to GitHub to see how much work is done every week (a lot). Everyone I personally talked to from the Godot team also seems very motivated to make Godot the best engine it can possibly be
Godot 4.x is a work in progress. It has some bugs and lacks some features that other engines have. But it's narrowing that gap (4.3 alone brings a ton of improvements). If the current development pace is any indication it will get solid fast, because it has everything it needs for that
