Figured it was about time to share an update with everyone following along at home. Here’s a quick rundown of what’s transpiring:
SUBMISSIONS
I’ve working with my agent on getting different titles and/or projects before various publishers. Some are graphic novels, some are prose. And while it’s been a longer process than I was anticipating, we’ve been getting good feedback overall, which fosters a more positive outlook in something getting picked up soon.
TITLE STATUS
We’ve also reached the official out-of-print date for all the prose books. That means whatever remains is going to be a sporadic Spartan sprinkling of tomes across the odd shelf or site. I’m told most sites will have prose listings down in short order while what remains in stores rests under the whim of management who can pull them whenever they will. The audiobooks will remain for the time being.
WRITING VENTURES
I’m still writing and working on projects. I’m right in the midst of working on a new short story, reworking the fourth Sons of Ashgard graphic novel while writing the fifth in the series, developing a couple new worlds, and working on a new YA title and Tralodren duology (among other things).
SOCIAL MEDIA UPDATE
I’ve been slowing down on social media for the time being. The plan is to pick up again when I have more news I can share. I do plan on posting from time to time, like now, to keep the feed active and folks informed.
A SMALL REQUEST
During this time of transition, I’d ask if you’d be so kind as to leave a review for whatever title(s) you’ve read on whatever platform works best for you. Doing so not only helps me see just who has read what (always a curiosity of mine) but also provides some additional “meat” for prospective publishers. If they can see there is (or was) an actual audience for a title that helps.
That’s it for now. I’ll look forward to sharing more soon…
Given the recent news at Dark Horse Comics with the replacing of Mike Richardson as CEO, I thought it only right to take a moment and honor the man who was willing to take a chance on me and the various titles we were able to produce together.
While an extremely busy man I always found him kind and approachable via email and/or other channels to pitch ideas or just take a moment to enlighten me on the publication (and later movie) process in general.
He gave me and the titles a chance when no one else would--even affording me some rather unique opportunities and exceptional amounts of grace when others would have written me off or passed me by in the years that followed. I will always appreciate and be grateful for it.
Knowing a bit of how he doesn't like to sit still for long I wish him all the best in whatever ventures he takes on next. I'm sure they will be successful.
So thank you, Mike, for all you've done not just for myself but so many other creatives over the years--changing the face of publishing and comics in the process.
@TesisToon@DarkHorseComics You're not alone @TesisToon. We've been working on another installment but it's taking longer than we thought finding a path toward publication...
@sharksenpai42@BlackstoneAudio@recordedbooks Glad to hear you enjoyed As the Sparrow Flies. The print (and ebook) options have been delayed, unfortunately for As the Paths Converge, leaving the audiobook as the only option at this time... Hopefully I'll have more news soon I can share...
@BrendanDeneen And I'm sure it makes you wonder at times just what would have happened had you given up instead of pushing on...Two totally different realities (and lives)...
