If weight is added too quickly before your body can adapt that will severely strain and damage yourself.

And the natives had multiple native nations which often went to war with eachother and conquered eachother.
The Europeans who became native citizens by being born in the region just conquered better.

A good solution to homelessness is by making jobs more available and easy to get to.
