Fear stands for “false evidence appearing real.” Fears can actually be worse than any virus going around. Satan is fear; don’t allow him entrance into your life. We must master our emotions with the peace that God wants us to have.
“Give your burdens to the LORD, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall” (Psalm 55:22, NLT). When the enemy brings the fight to us, he knows he’s already a defeated foe.
“The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower” (Psalm 18:2).
Shame is a weight that stops us from moving ahead, but God’s restoration means we do not have to be ashamed. Whatever the circumstances, it is God’s will to restore everything that was taken from us.
We avoid the worry and stress that come from making a mistake or a bad decision by seeking wise counsel. Jesus is our wise counselor and our wonderful prince of peace (Isaiah 9:6), and He’s waiting for us to call on Him. When we’ve lost our peace, He’ll return it to us.
“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). Jesus, the Prince of Peace, turns defeat into victory.
To determine our final destination, we need more than simply what we can do on our own—we need Jesus. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6).
When all else fails, however, He wants us to know that no power in the universe is strong enough to overcome His Word concerning our security. “May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels” (Psalm 122:7, NIV). This is His will for us.
When we really want to change for the better, we can confidently rely on God in this area. “Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me” (Psalm 54:4, NIV ).
We can always find reasons to be negative, but this kind of mindset doesn’t benefit us or improve anything. We may hear others complaining because of their own negative attitudes, but we don’t have to let them influence us.
True wisdom is letting our faith in God’s Word, instead of our feelings, govern our lives. Confidently knowing what He says to us in this area, instead of having to rely on our emotions at the moment, puts us in emotional control.
When the world turns on us and those closest to us distance themselves, God does just the opposite. “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken” (Psalm 55:22, NIV).
When life gets crazy, we must remember that in the midst of everything, believers are still the ones who have authority from God. Authority is defined as the right to command. We do not have to tolerate sickness, disease, fear, or any other kind of evil present in the world.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you” (James 1:5, NIV). When we make our decisions based on God’s advice instead of what we see around us, we avoid making painful mistakes.
Our emotions can actually move our lives in a particular direction, either toward God’s will or away from it. As Christians, we must not become overly spiritual by pretending our feelings do not exist; they are real and they are an important part of our souls.
God is aware that there will be days when we just don’t feel strong. It’s during those times that the devil tries to drag us down. “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8).
