@Tim_Fontenault Yup. Austin undoubtedly a perfect fit for MLS, but the league and PSV went about the process of establishing a team there about as poorly as possible. From jumping other expansion bids, lying to multiple cities, holding an OG franchise hostage: ick is an apt description.

5,376,769: the reported regular season attendance for #crewsc through 2017. It would take a franchise in MLS almost 16 years to hit that mark based on median attendance in 2017. There is plenty to build on here, in Columbus. #respectyourroots#savethecrew
Amongst other MLS originals, Columbus all time attendance is right in the middle, and 6th overall. 4 originals that have more attendance, and 3 originals below #crewsc. (2 more if you include the Quakes, who had a 2 yr hiatus and TB, who folded.) #savethecrew
Last season, we hosted the @crisohio Community Connectors program at tailgates in an effort to use the beautiful game to connect new Americans to their new home. This year, @Save_The_Crew is helping us expand with a ticket donation program. (https://t.co/7HihB4qmXG) #SaveTheCrew
#SaveTheCrew will find out soon if Kamara was just the perfect fit for Columbus, or if he really is the best finisher in the league. The amount of one touch goals leads me to believe the former, BUT he has incredible soccer smarts to BE in those positions.
@Bassman614 @soccer_nati @Terry_BarberJr @Messim97R @CrewHD_VIDEOS @Runnin4h2o @MLS@MassiveReport Agreed. I wasn't calling out teams, but there are untouchable markets. Los Angeles will always have a franchise of some sort as long as MLS exists.
@soccer_nati @Terry_BarberJr @Messim97R @CrewHD_VIDEOS @Runnin4h2o @MLS@MassiveReport If lifetime attendance isn't considered, then it's easy to see the situation for what it is: a cash grab. The powers that be could care less where Austin is attendance wise 20 years from now, they're banking on that up tick for the next few and then can move on. #savethecrew
@soccer_nati @Terry_BarberJr @Messim97R @CrewHD_VIDEOS @Runnin4h2o @MLS@MassiveReport If new teams/stadiums are the standard for the league, then get ready for the carousel of relocation. Every team would be threatened, save for those in major markets (5 or so). It makes more long term sense to also factor in year over year aggregate attendance. #savethecrew
@soccer_nati @Terry_BarberJr @Messim97R @CrewHD_VIDEOS @Runnin4h2o @MLS@MassiveReport You may not be making the comparison, but the league and owner are. It's a major part of the narrative behind the move. Would be great if every game were a sellout, but bigger problem is the league wanting the benchmark to be NEW franchise attendance metrics. #savethecrew
@soccer_nati @Terry_BarberJr @Messim97R @CrewHD_VIDEOS @Runnin4h2o @MLS@MassiveReport 75‰ average is better than the median attendance rate of a LOT of major sports in the US. Comparing a founding club to an expansion team or 2 year old prospect isn't logical, but that's where we are. If this is the blueprint, this league will shift until it dies. #savethecrew
@austexclint @TongueLife@TX_Liberty@ChrisBils I'm confused. You are saying Orlando stole your franchise, so it doesn't bother Austin to do the same to another city? BTW, Austin isn't stealing anything, @aprecourt took care of that part years ago and is to blame. I'm just trying to gain perspective.
@SoccerObserve@AlexiLalas@YouTube Cute. Reality: Dear mistress of my husband, the father of my children. You seem like a great catch, and I want you to be happy. But please understand that we are married, have an EXISTING family and are working tirelessly to save it. #savethecrew
@ArmanKafai@groundd A USL with a clean history vs an MLS team with an owner who snuck an out clause that specified Austin, making them a target? This isn't like @APrecourt decided one day Columbus wasn't viable. If the whole context is considered, the video makes sense. #savethecrew
Agreed. Austin is targeted in this video because @APrecourt targeted Austin. I don't know all relocation transactions across US sports history, but I don't think many have had "out" clauses for a specific city. #savethecrew video is asking Austin to consider roots of this move. https://t.co/EH7FQjYKUV
@KurtLarSUN We are doing all we can to save the team. When Precourt took over we were 12/19 in attendance. Not great, but not bad. Now we are 20/22. There is zero advertising in the city. You wouldn’t know this city had a team. You going to tow the mls line and tell me that is on the fans?
This. @thesoccerdon back to talking out of both sides of his mouth. Maybe Nashville will succeed, but call it like it is. Fandom was NOT a factor in this choice. The trucks of money being unloaded into your vault: THAT was the #1 reason. #savethecrew https://t.co/cQtkOrF2Fy
