If I discovered an isekai world I'd stay. Anyone who isn't a total NPC would stay too. Working a mundane, soulless job as a wage cuck isn't meaningful. Isekai stories can serve as metaphors for choosing a better alternative to the status quo, instead of worshiping the mundane.

Realistic ending is better because it shows growth and that the person is ready to move in the world as an adult while still having the great memories and wonder alive within them in a healthy way like a stable adult.

Because ultimately that is something we all have to do at some point and that's a lesson kids need to learn... to let go but still keep it close in the hearth.

They can also work in the right context, like when telling a story meant to feel like an ancient myth. But many people stuck in arrested development only engage with black and white stories.
