These days, the Russian dictator imitates another "elections." Everyone in the world understands that this person, like many others throughout history, has become sick with power and will stop at nothing to rule forever.
There is no evil he would not do to maintain his personal power. And no one in the world would have been safeguarded from this.
I am grateful to every state, leader, and international organization that has and will continue to call these things by their proper names.
Everything Russia does in Ukraine’s occupied territories is a crime. There should be a fair response to everything the Russian murderers did in this war to secure Putin's eternal rule. Only one thing scares him the most: accountability.
This imitation of "elections" has no legitimacy and cannot have any. This person must end up on the dock in The Hague. This is what we must ensure. Anyone in the world who values life and decency.
Let's discuss India's economy. India's GDP growth in 2023 reached 7.3%, exceeding my expectations. Previously, the average GDP growth rate in India from 2019 to 2022 was only 4+%. I used to think it would be 4+% too in 2023.
The core reason for 7.3% is not that foreign investment has increased in India (although the media likes to discuss this topic), nor is it that India's manufacturing has achieved significant development (in fact, the proportion of manufacturing to GDP has been declining in India in recent years). It is that the Indian government has borrowed heavily and increased investment in infrastructure.
This is somewhat similar to the situation in China around 2006, where the government invested heavily in high-speed rail and roads, and private capital began to flow into the real estate market. Afterwards, housing prices experienced a more than tenfold increase within 10 years.
I am not sure if India will follow the same path of China in the next 10 years, but the proportion of China's manufacturing industry to GDP has been around 30% for past decades, while this number is only about 15% in India and is slowly declining.
The biggest risk to India's economic growth comes from AI development. The main sources of income in India currently are the software, low-end manufacturing, mid/low end service, and labor output, all of which are the main alternative targets for AI development. The model of government borrowing to invest in infrastructure is unsustainable without sufficient income growth.
The biggest opportunity for India's economic growth is not competition between China and the United States, but its own large population, which is both a labor and consumer market. India's female labor participation rate is about 24%, that number is 61% in China, big room to improve for India. However, if its economy cannot provide enough jobs, the huge population will be a heavy burden to feed.
Wow, this is huge. We now have confirmation - directly from a Reuters investigation (!) - that a special team was created in the CIA under Trump to create negative news about China and spread them in international media, and in Chinese social media.
Immensely hypocrite given how the US constantly has paranoid panic attacks about how "foreign adversaries" might try to influence their population... Again these days with TikTok... Turns out that, as is often the case, it was projection.
Looking at the details, Reuters reports that "Trump authorized the CIA to launch a clandestine campaign on Chinese social media aimed at turning public opinion in China against its government, according to former U.S. officials with direct knowledge of the highly classified operation."
The CIA then "created a small team of operatives who used bogus internet identities to spread negative narratives about Xi Jinping’s government while leaking disparaging intelligence to overseas news outlets."
The operation wasn't confined to China: "the 2019 authorization uncovered by Reuters [...] enabled the CIA to take action not only in China but also in countries around the world where the United States and China are competing for influence. Four former officials said the operation targeted public opinion in Southeast Asia, Africa and the South Pacific."
Which is why you should take any negative "news" about China with a massive pinch of salt: for all you know, it might originate from a CIA operative in Langley, Virginia...
And the program might still be going on as "Reuters was unable to determine whether the administration of President Joe Biden has maintained the CIA program."

Tiktok has over 1 billion users outside of the United States. If the Chinese government approves this transaction, it will be seen as China bowing its head to the United States and accepting unequal treaties like Chinese gov during "the century of humiliation".
China will not be trusted by global south countries in the critical moment, and it will be a huge blow to China's reputation unless the United States provides enough exchange products, such as giving up Taiwan.
The people who’ve handed our country to China are banning TikTok to protect you from China? Probably not. So what’s really going on? Rand Paul joins us to explain.
