Here's my commentary on the recent funding of CGM and AID for all people with T1D in NZ in the Conversation. tld;dr Great to have funding for tech but workforce shortages may reduce accessibility for those most in need of this tech. #T1D https://t.co/xiDm6feth3 1/2
support led to a mean reduction of HbA1c from 93.4mmol/mol to 76.5mmol/mol at three months, with improvements sustained out to 12 months. Review: https://t.co/IRzDv99bkj. Original article: https://t.co/CdNieFR4No
Our recently published pilot study using CGM as an education tool alongside culturally-centered support for people with #type2diabetes and out-of-target glycaemia has just been included in the Diabetes and Obesity Research Review. 6 weeks of CGM wear with intensive 1/2
There are multiple grants under review to support an equitable roll out of these technologies to ensure everyone with T1D can access and benefit. @DrBenWheeler1@DrMartindeBock1@TwistaTim
Today Pharmac have announced funding for Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGM) and insulin pumps for people with #T1D in New Zealand. This is a major step forward from what is currently funded (largely insulin pens and finger prick testing). Insulin pump training will now be the rate
limiting step for accessing automated insulin delivery in NZ, with only 13-15% of people currently using an insulin pump. A major challenge for under staffed secondary care clinics across the motu.
The Ukrainian operation in Kursk is almost one week into execution. As the Russians slowly but surely redeploy forces to seal off the breach in their border and attempt to push the Ukrainians back into #Ukraine, it is worth pondering the options the Ukrainians might have once they reach their limit of exploitation. 1/20 🧵🇺🇦
@PracticalDeeb@ypsomed@Rocktape I found these sites to be quite irritable. Skintac was quite a good barrier. But I'm now using the ypsopimp inset sites (basically same as the Medtronic mio) and they are much less irritating.
@PracticalDeeb@abbottaustralia These are the single funded meter in NZ. The dual meter is a great function. However, the meter does not have temperature sensors so struggles at low and high temps. I self fund an accuchek so the caresens is my back up because of this. Looking forward to hearing how you find it

@scrumpyjack65 @DiabeticDadUK Can you adjust the speed of bolus delivery on your pump? If so, you may find a slower delivery alleviates the discomfort.
