Matthew 27:57 (NIV): "As evening approached, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who had himself become a disciple of Jesus."
He was a respected member of the Sanhedrin (Jewish council), described as "a prominent member" or "good and upright man" who was waiting for the kingdom of God (Mark 15:43; Luke 23:50-51).
After the crucifixion, Joseph boldly asked Pilate for Jesus' body, wrapped it in clean linen, and placed it in his own new tomb (one he had prepared for himself, likely an expensive rock-cut family tomb). This act required significant wealth, influence, and courage, as it publicly associated him with the executed Jesus during a dangerous time.
Jesus didn't have a problem with people that worked hard and became rich.
@BartFurley The Liberals have been printing money, devaluing our dollar, which causes inflation, which drives up food prices. Then they print more money and give us a few hundred dollars and you think that they are heroes???
@nenshi Who in the world wants Alberta to dump millions of dollars of oil on the world markets and depress oil prices for decades. Russia? No. OPEC countries? No. The USA? No. All those countries are financing Forever Canada.
@furmsies 45 million ballots being printed. Alberta, even though there are only 3 million eligible voters, has to hire people to count the 40 million mail-in votes from the Rest of Canada.
@RodAVanier Carney:
"Canadaโs old relationship with the US is over."
"Canada is not dependent on the United States."
"Canada will build an "independent future."
@nenshi I thought you said that the independence vote shouldn't happen because it is up to the government to decide instead of the public... and you said a public referendum was a waste of money.
