I wonder if we can computationally model/simulate board games and figure out what's the best strategy of winning a game in a certain setting (number of players, other player's personality, etc. ). Game balance is definitely a computational problem......🤔
Our new paper is up as an uncorrected proof at @PLOSCompBiol. We used the excellent modeling package MAVE-NN by the @jbkinney lab to gain some interesting insights into the behavior of synthetic regulatory DNA elements. More on this a bit later…

Why do different variants in the same gene cause different forms of disease? In our latest preprint we use MPRA technology to test how two blindness-causing variants alter the function of CRX in mouse models.
Work of our collaboration with @Chen7Shiming.

It is sad that many PIs (and perhaps also many institutes) care about publications more than anything else - they are willing to keep whatever toxic people in lab/institute as long as they are *productive*. I guess that's how toxic people get enriched in academia☹️
Today, we’re introducing a new model that eliminates accept/reject decisions.
By publishing every paper with eLife reviews as a Reviewed Preprint, we plan to restore autonomy to authors, ensuring that they will be judged by what, not where, they publish. https://t.co/OAsiOVFStI
Eppendorf orders are like time capsules💊
You order some tubes from eppendorf and they will arrive at a random time point (at least one year later).
Now you can travel back in time to figure out why you want those tubes initially😶
Things happened today at the gel station:
1. My sample floated up out of the well when I loaded them (because of residual ethanol after purification)
2. Gel fell on the ground and broke into pieces before I was able to take an image
Decided today is not a good day for gel🤕
