Growing up, I was told that the demise of Christianity would be caused by our country rejecting God.
Now I believe it is actually caused by Christians blatantly rejecting the teachings of Jesus for the sake of political power.
I confess
when I first started writing these
and chose to refer to them as
“a record
of the plague years”
I did not anticipate
that the official records
of the plague years
would wind up getting purged
from the CDC’s website.
@deestiv@oldenoughtosay What you describe are people I meet also (in the Midwestern US). Some are completely altruistic; for some, $ is part (not all) of the equation. Exploitation has happened - laws were passed 10 years ago in India & Thailand to ban commercial surrogacy due to ethical & other issues.
@oldenoughtosay 130K, Wisconsin, US. The engine was still pretty good but the body was rusting to the point that the engine was about to fall out.
My husband has had higher mileage cars in Minnesota and Wisconsin but nothing over 200K, I don’t think. Cold weather & road salt are issues.
@aedevaux@oldenoughtosay I thought perhaps the van was having a nice retirement in Michigan. Though it’s pretty chilly there right now. Or was stranded!
And if he wins
what then?
Then we
take care
of each other.
And if she wins
what then?
Then we
take care
of each other.
And if?
And if?
And if?
Take care
of each other.
@BarackObama I got your message on my answering machine today in Wisconsin, and I understood the assignment. Voting for my daughters, for my parents, for my patients.
@Nick_Pettigrew This is one of my favorites, at least, not sure about best! A yellow water lily (AKA pond lily, cow lily or spatterdock) on a glassy Northern Minnesota (US) lake, photo taken from a canoe.
@caesararum This is my PhD SIL. Multiple part-time adjunct jobs, no decent benefits, and when she developed cancer during the first year of the pandemic and could not teach that semester, she was dropped like a hot potato without support. So exploitative.
A friendly reminder to all my friends across Wisconsin with school referendums on your ballot - the reason these are happening so frequently is because the Republican-controlled legislature has refused to provide adequate state funding for public education for a decade and a half
I have been asked on two different networks and by two different male hosts today whether abortion rights are as important to women as the economy. I can't say it more clearly: reproductive freedom is economic freedom. They are intrinsically intwined, as every woman knows.
