Wow! Confirmed now. A Ukrainian F-16 shot down the Russian Su-35. This is the first air-to-air kill by a Ukrainian F-16 and one of, if not the only time, a Ukrainian jet was confirmed to have downed a Russian one. Very significant.

Mykhailo Drapatyi was the commander of the legendary BMP-2 that broke through Russian-backed barricades in Mariupol on May 9, 2014.

At the time, Russian-backed militants were attempting to seize control of the city. Drapatyi led the armored breakthrough that helped Ukrainian forces regain the initiative and prevent Mariupol from falling. The footage became one of the defining symbols of Ukraine’s resistance in the early stages of the war.

BREAKING: President Trump is preparing to announce 10% tariffs on "dozens of countries" this week, per FT.

Details include:

1. These new tariffs come as President Trump's current 10% tariffs expire later this week

2. President Trump's advisors have reportedly warned him against doing so

3. Advisors are reportedly worried about risking the economic shocks of the original trade war ahead of the midterm elections

4. The Trump Admin is also working on other investigations that could grant it the legal authority to propose higher tariffs

Ottawa Learns to Say No

Mark Carney’s latest defence package is less a shopping list than a divorce filing. The Canadian prime minister, who insists security cannot be held “hostage” to anyone else’s whims, is steering money pointedly homeward and toward Europe.

Over the next decade Ottawa plans to spend C$180 billion, roughly $131 billion, directly on military procurement and a further C$290 billion on defence-related infrastructure, while lifting the share of contracts going to Canadian firms from about a third to seventy percent.

As Carney put it, Canada should no longer send three-quarters of its defence spending south.
The move is deliberate, and it is not lonely. Carney is courting European partners as Britain, Germany and others do the same.

Here is the arithmetic Washington keeps missing. One ally shopping elsewhere is a snub. But stack Canada on top of Europe, then add the Asian allies drifting the same way, and you are looking at hundreds of billions in American defence exports evaporating across the next twenty years. Indispensability, it turns out, was never a birthright.

🇬🇧🇩🇪🚀 Britain and Germany are entering a “golden age” of defence cooperation as they build a long-range missile designed to defend Europe against Russia, - The Telegraph

British officials are eager to move the project from a 2024-era letter of intent to a formal programme in 2027 and, ideally, the completion of the weapon by 2034.

Berlin and London hope to deliver by 2034 a deep precision strike (DPS) missile which could be used to destroy Vladimir Putin’s resupply lines inside Russia.

£30bn DPS programme was announced as a British-led project of 12 allied nations at the July 2026 Nato summit in Ankara, with Germany expected to play a prominent role.

Putin's regime continues selling off a record amount of Russian Central Bank gold to fund the war, with June sales bringing the 6 month total to 43.5 metric tonnes.

Putin's central bank now claims to have over 2200 tonnes remaining, but this is widely claimed to be a fabrication.
