Deployed over the NATO/EU Malta-Italy QKD submarine fibre corridor, the PoC demonstrates secure last-mile key delivery from a central QKD node to untrusted or mobile edge devices without degradation of key quality or dependence on legacy infrastructure.
This breakthrough enables the end-to-end preservation of quantum security across heterogeneous networks, extending QKD’s reach beyond tightly controlled lab or defence environments into practical deployment scenarios.
This Rome event is especially significant: Adrian will also be speaking right after and on the same stage as Prof. Dr. Michele Mosca, widely regarded as the High Priest of Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC). His presence, alongside the platform we’ve been given, underscores the importance and global weight of this opportunity.

Because the Rome event directly conflicts with the upcoming NIST event, it is simply not possible to attend both.
We will therefore be present in Rome, contributing at the highest level and advancing the dialogue on PQC where it matters most.
Importantly, this does not in any way impact our journey toward being listed as a NIST algorithm, which remains fully supported and progressing as planned.
