Its been 18 hours since someone pushed this valid transaction with a full jpeg in op_return. For most of those 18 hours, the fee rate was sufficient for it to be considered "next block."
But it hasn't been mined yet. The reason it hasn't been mined is because of filters, which bCore v30 will disable.
Bitcoin Core maintainers feel that it is essential to quickly mine this jpeg, and that somehow filtering it is "bad" for mempool topology and will degrade Bitcoin services. Have you noticed any degradation of Bitcoin in the last 18 hours while this transaction has been filtered?
Bitcoin is owned by humanity, the protocol developers are stewards, and need consensus from users to change it materially. bitcoin is about money, spam has no place in the timechain. what defaults the bitcoin core project puts in the reference client matter in this.
Adam is desperately trying to save Core's reputation, all he is going to accomplish is to sink with it.
Unless Core does a 360, puts v30 on ice and reinstates datacarriersize, that will be the outcome. I doubt they will come to their senses.
Luke is not the problem here.
JUST IN: Dennis Porter announces the Decentralization Defense Fund has raised $100,000 for Knots development.
He says this is “just the beginning” with a goal of reaching $1 million.
