Waarom de Nederlandse overheid dringend op dieet moet?

Soms lees je een CBS-rapport en denk je: dit is geen statistiek, als een arts dit leest geeft hij direct dringend medisch advies: u heeft last van vraatzucht, u moet op dieet. In 2025 gaf de overheid namelijk maar liefst 529-miljard euro uit, 32-miljard meer dan het jaar ervoor. De inkomsten bedroegen 510-miljard, met als resultaat een tekort van 19-miljard euro, 1.6 procent van het bbp, meer dan dubbel zo hoog als in 2024. Ondertussen bereikte de staatsschuld de som van maar liefst 524-miljard euro, 44.4 procent van het bbp (Bruto Binnenlands Product). Dat is per Nederlander 1800-euro extra schuld in één jaar.

Personeelskosten bij de overheid stegen met maar liefst 7-miljard. Het aantal rijksambtenaren groeide door naar circa 160.000 fte. Overdrachten naar het buitenland explodeerden met bijna 40 procent naar 18-miljard. Dit is geen gezonde groei, dit is institutionele gulzigheid. Een overheid die structureel sneller groeit dan de economie die haar voedt, vreet letterlijk aan de fundamenten van onze welvaart. Een serieus dieet is daarom geen politieke keuze, maar een existentiële noodzaak. Zonder rigoureuze ingrepen, minder ministeries, minder overlappende diensten, minder subsidiecircussen, minder zendelingenwerk in Afrika en Oekraïne en minder beleidsambtenaren die nota’s schrijven over nota’s, gaat de staatsschuld onvermijdelijk richting de 50 procent van het bbp en hoger.

Dan resten nog maar twee oplossingen: hogere lasten of snijden in essentiële voorzieningen. Beide zijn graadmeters voor maatschappelijk verval, en een overheid die structureel teveel geld uitgeeft. Toch blijft Den Haag schransen. Geen dieet, het regeerakkoord leest als een luxueus banket, met tientallen miljarden die niet ten gunste komen van die essentiële voorzieningen. Het CBS legt deze ongemakkelijke waarheid onbarmhartig bloot: een overheid die zichzelf blijft volstoppen terwijl burgers en bedrijven de rekening gepresenteerd krijgen. Dit is geen behoorlijk bestuur, dit is culinaire zelfmoord met belastinggeld. De weegschaal liegt niet. Stop deze vraatzucht, of de patiënt overleeft het niet.

Puedes quedarte en casa en pijama, con tu café y tu laptop, “produciendo”.
Pero quien fabrica el auto que usas, construye tu casa, cocina tu comida o te la entrega a domicilio no tiene esa opción. Ellos deben presentarse para que tu vida funcione.

El trabajo remoto no es un derecho universal. Es un privilegio de la clase que trabaja frente a una pantalla: solo ellos pueden desconectarse del mundo real mientras otros mantienen el sistema.

Musk va más allá: en la oficina se innova más rápido, se resuelven problemas en minutos y los nuevos aprenden observando a los mejores. En videollamada todo eso se diluye.

Por eso en Tesla, SpaceX y X la regla es clara y sin excepciones: a la oficina.

No es capricho de jefe autoritario. Es su forma de evitar crear una nueva casta de privilegiados mientras el resto carga el peso.

The window open right now is an information asymmetry.

What I'd do with the window: convert time into things that survive the transition.

A wage is rent on your time.

Automate the time and the rent collapses. Owning scarce things is the esc

The people who spend these three years hoarding capital will look like geniuses in ten.

When wages stop compounding, guess whats left?
