I was confident I could of played a major part this summer for my country after the season I’ve had. I’ve been left shocked and gutted by the decision.
I’ve loved nothing more than putting that shirt on and representing my country over the years.
I wish the players, all the best this summer 🏴
👕 𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒!
PGMOL has appointed Stuart Attwell as the referee for Sunderland vs Manchester United.
Attwell’s refereeing in United games this season:
1. Failed to send off Walker for a deliberate stamp on Dorgu
2. Denied a blatant penalty on Amad vs Bournemouth
3. Went on to send off Harry Maguire and award a penalty to Bournemouth
Same referee, same incident, different outcome. Lisandro Martinez is sent off, Dango Ouattara is not.
Meanwhile Manchester United have one fit centre back at Stamford Bridge, where Martinez sure would have been handy tonight.
Nice one @FA_PGMOL, consistently incompetent.
• Clear penalty on Matheus Cunha by William Saliba — NO foul!
• Saliba grabbing Altay Bayındır’s hand — NO foul + score.
• Clear foul on Bryan Mbeumo denying a goal-scoring chance — NO red card.
• Semenyo grabbing Dalot by the throat — NO red card.
• Multiple handballs by Bournemouth in the box — NO penalty.
• Lisandro Martínez goal wrongly disallowed for a “foul” that never existed — robbed us of 3 points.
• Amad Diallo pulled and pushed in the box — NO penalty… same situation with Harry Maguire on the other end — penalty given.
• Leny Yoro elbowed in the face — play on!
• And then Lisandro Martínez gets sent off for actually trying to win the ball while Calvert-Lewin hands are all over his face.
Same league, same rules… completely different decisions when it comes to Manchester United.
This are just a few decisions that VAR got completely wrong against us this season and i have probably missed some, but you get the point — it’s Manchester United against everyone always.
Make it make sense… 🤦♂️
Frame 1 = red card for Lisandro Martinez
Frame 2 = no foul on Leny Yoro
Calvert-Lewin committed 7 fouls tonight, 5 of them were elbows yet he walked away without a single yellow card.
Leeds United second goal came from a foul on Bruno Fernandes but the referee refused to give a free kick.
Our previous game was another scandal. The referee and VAR refused to give Manchester United a clear penalty and it immediately led to Bournemouth scoring.
Against Burnley, Lisandro Martinez scored a clean goal, yet the referee disallowed it.
Kyle Walker clearly committed violent conduct but the referee and VAR ignored it.
At what point do these referees face consequences for their actions?
They are trying so hard to stop United from making the Champions League next season.
🚨@FA_PGMOL did us dirty once again…
They did it vs Bournemouth last time — and they’ve done it AGAIN tonight.
Same story, different game. Decisions going against us when it matters most. 🤦♂️
RED CARD!! NO FOUL!!
🎙️ Roy Keane on Lisandro Martínez’s red card:
Both players were grappling in the air. He pulled his hand away as soon as he realized it was on the hair. If that’s a red, the game’s gone soft. Meanwhile, clear fouls on United players were ignored Casemiro and mazraoui I don’t know why.
Manchester United set to make a formal complaint today to PGMOL after the failure to award a second penalty in last night’s draw with Bournemouth.
Club will argue Amad was clearly wrestled to ground with no attempt to play the ball.
Manchester United are angry at what they perceive to be a clear VAR error.
It is also noted similar penalty incidents were treated differently in the same game leading to Harry Maguire being sent off.
#MUFC also unhappy with nine minutes of added time being played in the game.
Jan 21, 2026 the Premier League's Key Match Incidents (KMI) Panel ruled that Stuart Attwell shouldn’t have ruled out the goal from Lisandro Martinez on January 7th against Burnley
Mar 17, 2026, the Premier League's Key Match Incidents (KMI) Panel unanimously ruled that Stuart Attwell made an error not awarding Leeds United a penalty in their match against Sunderland on March 3rd.
This is the same guy Nottingham Forest publicly called out. The FA fined them £750,000.
Stuart Attwell, ladies and gentlemen. 👏🏼
🚨 Bruno Fernandes: “I know it's tough for a referee to give two penalties to the same team in the same match…
…but I don't understand why one foul is a penalty and the other isn't”.
“The foul on Amad is a PENALTY”.
🗣️ Keith Hackett (Ex-PGMOL boss) on Amad penalty:
‘‘This is a holding offense on Amad and should have resulted in a penalty kick, no wonder why Manchester United are unhappy. Later one for similar incident a penalty is awarded against Harry Maguire.’’
