$589K USDT STUCK FOR 50 DAYS AFTER ZCASH SWAP
-A @Zcash user says they swapped 1,120 shielded ZEC through @zodl_app and NEAR Intents on July 20 and got about $589k USDT. That swap went through. When they sent the USDT back to a new NEAR Intents deposit address the same day, the on-chain tx confirmed but the funds never showed up in the account.
-@near_intents later called it a compliance hold. On July 23 the user says they received written clearance that the review was done and the money would be released. The refund never happened. Follow-ups through August went nowhere. By late August the same team called the July 23 note an “initial determination” and put the case back under review with no date.
-@zodl_co says it does not control the funds and has raised it with the NEAR Intents side. Neither company has issued a full public statement on this specific case. The article treats it as one user’s report until confirmed.

HISTORY: 10 years ago today, Rare Pepes entered crypto history.
On September 9, 2016, an anonymous creator known as “Mike” posted RAREPEPE, the first card of the Rare Pepe project, on the Counterparty platform.
The Series 1, Card 1 “Nakamoto” card was issued in a limited supply of 300 and became an early example of tokenized digital art on Bitcoin’s ecosystem.
Years before the NFT boom, Rare Pepes showed that memes, art and digital ownership could be tied to blockchain-based assets.
The project eventually grew into 1,774 official cards across 36 series, becoming one of the most notable early chapters in crypto-art history.
ICYMI: A massive crypto exploit just hit Symbiosis.
A hacker exploited the cross-chain bridge and allegedly minted billions of unbacked synthetic Bitcoin, called syBTC.
Reports put the total at around 368.9 billion syBTC across Ethereum and BNB Chain.
The attacker has already sold some of the tokens for around 4.39 $WBTC on Uniswap V4.
And here’s the scary part — around 184.5 billion syBTC reportedly remains on BNB Chain.
Symbiosis says its $ETH and stablecoin pools are safe, and non-BTC routes remain unaffected.
The investigation is still ongoing, and this is a developing story.
ICYMI: The U.S. DOJ says it seized or gained control of $52 million in crypto linked to the Xinbi Guarantee scam network.
The DOJ also credited Tether for helping law enforcement restrain the funds.
The network allegedly supported global scam operations and money laundering.
UPDATE: U.S. CPI is scheduled for today and Bitcoin is sitting near $77K.
Markets expect:
• Headline CPI: 3.4% YoY
• Core CPI: 2.4% YoY
• Fed hike odds: ~71%
The key number for $BTC? Core CPI.
A hotter-than-expected print could push yields and Fed hike bets higher, adding pressure on Bitcoin.
A softer reading could ease macro pressure.

The update includes new requirements for non-decentralized DeFi protocols to register with the CFTC, limits DeFi provisions to spot or cash digital commodity transactions, and clarifies credit unions’ authority to deal in crypto.
The ethics, BRCA and stablecoin yield sections remain unchanged, according to Eleanor Terrett.
LATEST: 🇺🇸 Senator Cynthia Lummis says Democrats helped shape the CLARITY Act, securing more than 115 provisions in the bill.
She says Democrats pushed for measures targeting fraudsters, funding for the CFTC and stricter oversight of crypto platforms.
Now, Lummis says, they should vote for the bill they helped build.
