Asteroid Day is an annual global awareness event held on June 30 to educate people about asteroids, their scientific importance, and the potential risk of asteroid impacts on Earth.

Asteroid Day was inspired by the anniversary of the 1908 Tunguska event, when a large asteroid fragment exploded over Siberia, flattening about 2,000 square kilometers of forest. In 2016, the United Nations officially recognized June 30 as the International Day of the Asteroid.

Now that Asteroid is also the mascot of @SpaceX, this holiday has become an interesting overlap! SpaceX contributes to asteroid research and their mascot is Asteroid. We look forward to this being the first time the holiday has such an overlap.

💫 Hope & Joy Boxes – Keeping Liv’s Light Shining 💫

During Liv’s very first cancer diagnosis in the middle of COVID, hospitals were locked down tight. No visitors, very few activities, and so many kids facing treatment with almost nothing to brighten their days.

Before one of her inpatient stays at @ChildrensPhila , Liv decided to use her own money to shop at @fivebelow She carefully picked out toys and proudly handed them over to Child Life. Those simple gifts went to other kids receiving treatment that same week. The joy it brought her was something I’ll never forget. She lit up knowing she could bless others even while fighting her own battle.

Then, the Christmas after she finished treatment, Liv wanted to do more. She started a board game drive for @GeisingerHealth and we ended up donating six huge boxes filled with games. Blessing other kids brought her so much happiness and purpose.

That spirit is at the heart of everything we do at Liv’s Stargrace Foundation.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of so many of you, our Amazon wishlist of Liv’s favorite things is now complete! 🙏 We’ll start assembling the Joy Boxes in the coming weeks and deliver them to CHOP and Geisinger in time for what would have been Liv’s 16th birthday on July 28th.
We’ll also prepare Hope Boxes in January to honor the memory of her passing and bring comfort during that difficult season.
Every item in these boxes carries Liv’s love, her courage, and her deep desire to bring joy to other children and families walking this road.
