@VValtzy_ Last piece to this thread. By listening to the audio clip it is clear that the aesthetics of kingdom hearts doesn't appeal to him and that a OK but I don't think it has anything to do with his work experience with the company. He just thinks the game is weird which is common.
@VValtzy_ Kingdom Hearts was Square's answer to Mario. They did not have a comparable mascot in the space and by chance they were able to strike a deal with Disney to make the game they wanted. I would not consider that a bad reason to make a game, not even cynical.
@VValtzy_ I feel like you are approaching this in bad faith. KH is a Disney and Square Enix Property. Its original concept was meant to be Disney’s response to Mario. You can’t expect the Disney game not to have Disney characters. This is also a silly hypothetical and a strawman.
the original photos of these have always been super dim and low res so not much can be done, but i tried cleaning these up a bit too (the artifacting is from regular resampling, not ai upscaling)
HI THERE!
My Name is Eli, also known as Mexo, and NekoStix. I'm making a game! (attempting to at least!)
This Below is my proof of concept for a Tag Fighter about Kobolds! Kobold Fighter D!

@artbynips I personally would feel honored that it’s being credited as my style since that means I’ve reached a status of being acknowledged for my work. But that’s just how I feel. I can’t talk for other’s feelings.
@artbynips I suppose it depends on the individual artist. I’m not really sure since people have been making pokemon commissions in the style of Ken Sugimori with no issue for a while now.
@artbynips Also calling it a cheap party trick is harsh. To be able to replicate a style so accurately, that would require a lot of time, studying and skill. Also the entire medium of animation runs on people having to replicate a style for commercial gain.
@artbynips Historical people use to copy eachother’s art styles so much that they became movements such as renaissance and Impressionism. So if someone made comms based on a style I made popular and credited that style to me I would be over the moon. As long as there is no tracing or ai.
