This week's Women's History Month post celebrates the work of Zimbabwean novelist, playwright, and filmmaker Tsitsi Dangarembga. Her passion for amplifying the voices of African creatives, especially from Zimbabwe, showcases her dedication to centering Africa on the global stage.

The next Black woman CSAD Celebrates for Women's History Month is Olivia Wenzel, an Afro German writer, playwright, and performer based in Berlin, Germany. Her work places the historical and personal experiences of Afro Germans in a new and current context.

CSAD celebrates the birthday of Mahalia Jackson, the towering legendary gospel singer who was the defining voice of the genre over her remarkable 40-year career. Her 1947 recording of “Move On Up a Little Higher” brought her national and international fame.

CSAD celebrates Dr. Mae Jemison. Dr. Jemison is an astronaut, physician, engineer, dancer, and educator. She is most famously known for being the first woman of color in space as a mission specialist aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavor in 1992. We wish Dr. Jemison a happy birthday!
