The Senate and Assembly released their Joint Legislative Budget Agreement today and with @CAgovernor@GavinNewsom's support, CA can do more to lead the nation in supporting families and fighting child poverty
With @GavinNewsom's support, CA still has an opportunity to lead the nation on implementing new federal rules that allow for a comprehensive view of families’ needs & provide additional support for both parents to meet their obligations and be present in their children's lives.
If you have a current or past child support case, we want to hear from you! Your stories will help lawmakers improve our system ⬇️ https://t.co/B24FnfmjiU
After 20 years of stagnant/inconsistent funding, LCSAs need additional resources to strengthen our role in fighting child #poverty. #CALeg, kids are counting on you! LCSAs help 1 in 8 CA children with resources they need for food, shelter, clothing, healthcare and more.
Assembly #CABudget Subcommittee on Health & Human Services meets today to set its FY22-23 priorities. We urge @DrArambulaAD31 & committee members to put supporting Local Child Support Agencies on the priority list!
#CALeg, we can be leading the nation with new federal rules allowing LCSAs to closely consider each family’s circumstances and deliver tailored support children need to thrive. Investing in LCSA’s after twenty years of stagnant and inconsistent funding is the place to start.
Today, CA’s Senate Budget Committee on Health and Human Services begins to finalize its #CABudget plan. We are disappointed to see that investing in the LCSAs who deliver the support 1 in 8 CA children count on is not the priority list. But, there is still time to change that!
CSDA looks forward to working with @CAgovernor@GavinNewsom and #CALeg over the next 30 days to ensure California doesn’t miss the opportunity to turn the tide on family poverty, particularly for children of immigrants, non-English speakers and children of color.
As this year shatters records for the size of the state’s budget surplus, it also presents a can’t-miss opportunity to invest in the well-being of children and families. #MayRevise#CAbudget
But unless California begins to reverse two decades of stagnant or inconsistent funding for LCSAs, California children and families won’t see the full benefit of this significant policy shift.
