I didn’t participate in Big Picture book project ed by Floyd & Schouenborg discussing Barry Buzan’s scholarship but I greatly enjoyed discussing its theory section at an event organised by @NitashaKaul. I’m grateful to Barry for suggesting that I take part in this as a third eye
Looking forward to speaking on "Elections and reflections: what do the May 2026 results mean for universities?" at the Universities UK @UniversitiesUK Conference on "Political Affairs in Higher Education" on 4 June 2026🔥

Thank you to all our speakers (Rita Floyd, Robert Falkner, Emel Akçali, Cornelia Navari), Chair @floyd_rita, colleagues, students, and the audience for helping make the celebration of Barry Buzan and his work so lovely yesterday!

What a treat it was to celebrate the life and work of Barry Buzan at CSD yesterday!🥰💃🏽
We had participation from colleagues at multiple universities in the first panel, which discussed the newly published book on Barry's big picture approach to international relations, edited by Rita Floyd and Laust Schouenborg. The second panel was a conversation between Barry Buzan and myself, followed by a Q&A and a reception. There was lots of useful advice for IR and for social sciences more generally, as well as some pointers for younger scholars. Step out of your silos, speak across disciplines, collaborate, co-author, and be driven by questions, not conformity!
Tonight 🔥 Barry Buzan and the Big Picture in IR. We have the honour of hosting one of the most influential #IR scholars around, at @CSDWestminster.
5pm, Fyvie Hall, Regent St.
On Monday I have the pleasure of hosting Barry Buzan — one of the most influential IR scholars around — at CSD for a conversation about his extraordinary career and where the discipline goes next.
Stellar panel. New book from @CambridgeUP. Come if you can ❤️

My foundational work on the misogyny of authoritarians, which I began writing the night of the 2016 US election, has been cited by Hillary Clinton in Foreign Affairs. Scholarship can speak to power and about power at the same time.

The MAGA base, the western left & the Iranian regime all agree: this war isn't America First. Here's why they're all wrong — and why that matters for Iranians whose agency is discussed least. My new piece in @newlinesmag 🔗
