Illinois is a leader in quantum computing research. 🔬 Governor JB Pritzker (@GovPritzker) advances tech education by proclaiming #CSEdWeek! Cheers to @ISBEnews and @CSforIL. Read more: https://t.co/Cum5DWdMBt @codeorg
Sometimes, I question my choice to become a teacher, but not today. My students went above and beyond, sharing their creative process and challenges and yes, I might’ve teared up Proud of their creativity and perseverance! Thanks to Emily Flach from @ltcillinois for attending!
Everyone thinks that success is down to:
Hard work. Luck. Intelligence.
They're wrong.
After building 2 startups in Silicon Valley, I've seen one rare trait all successful founders have.
Here's what it is (and how you can build this rare trait too):
Attention all Illinois K12 CS teachers:

We now have an entire generation of high school students for whom #Y2K is a quick history lesson, despite its impact on society, economy, and culture.
Today, new technologies of unknown impact also “happen” to our society.
Shouldn’t kids learn the societal impact of new tech?
I just used this with teachers and it is a GAME CHANGER! I love how I can share programs easily, see student code in progress, and download work for a later session. I love everything about this and will tell anyone who will listen to me talk about it 🤣
This amazing group of educators spent a week in Bloomington Normal learning how to bring computer science education back to their schools! They made history at the first ever Illinois CS PD Week! @ltcillinois@ISBEnews@CSForIL@DiscoverDPI
Honored to partner with @ltcillinois, @DiscoverDPI, and many others who helped launch Illinois’ 1st-ever statewide #CSPDWeek, in service to the teachers and districts here who are committed to preparing students for their future.
And yes, @shuchig, a pleasure to recommend this.
Good morning & welcome to everyone joining us at #ILCSPDWeek! 👋

Chicago has a high concentration of people who identify into one or more historically underrepresented groups in #computerscience.
The same can be said across the rest of Illinois.
We need to stop tethering our work toward #CSforAll in IL to its zip codes, 606XX or otherwise.
Really looking forward to meeting so many fellow Illinois K12 #ComputerScience teachers at #CSPDWeek this July 17-21st.
More than just a weeklong experience, we’re going to build & support the largest, most inclusive statewide network of CS teachers ever.
Join us.
@ltcillinois

Just as puzzling to me:
how come we don’t talk about this practice of “stacking” Computer Science courses more often across the #CSforAll, #DEI, #AcademicTwitter, and broader #edreform communities?
It’s time we find another way. This is *not* a “best practice”.

I have never heard of any high school - anywhere - running AP Calc and AP Stats in the same room, at the same time, taught by the same teacher.
That feels almost silly to write.
So why is this such common practice in high schools that offer both AP Computer Science courses?
Yup.
Computer science is an application of mathematics in the theoretical designs of binary (and eventually quantum) computational architectures, while also being an application of (and contributor to) every other science known to man.
Let’s make it happen, indeed.
