In the final remarks @joe_dev talks to the concerns of career futures and STS futures. The importance of forming connections among PGRs and ECRs - a hope and aim of our workshop!
The @STSLancaster's @joe_dev is wrapping up our two day workshop with final remarks! Hope everyone is feeling inspired after four sessions of discussions ⭐️
✊✊✊ Some great reflections on interdisciplinary research from the panel.
I wonder now:
* How do you find a sense of belonging?
* How do you apply for jobs in disciplinary departments?
* How do you create, shift and maintain professional identity?
Question to the panel "What is the biggest challenge of producing interdisciplinary STS research?" - @LindenLisa notes that it is possible and rewarding to do interdisciplinary research but hard to feel a sense of belonging because of discipline settings.
@annadowrick frames it as an 'identity crisis' and how you need to actively position yourself. Both responses capture the aim of the workshop to foster a sense of belonging. 🤗
Question to the panel "How can we visualise and present STS (and cross discipline) concepts and ideas to the public or to audiences?" @annadowrick says how art-based methods foreground ways to communicate STS concepts and ideas - such as collage! #interdisciplinarySTS
Starting the panel with the question "How can STS methodologies be adapted to include more remote methods?" - @LindenLisa speaks to John Law's notion of STS methods as inclusive and this is possible remotely.
@annadowrick talks of how the pandemic caused a methodological 'flap' and the struggle to legitimatise remote methods - perhaps in the eyes of funders.
The workshop resumes today at 13:30 (GMT).
We are very excited to be joined by Dr. Anna Dowrick (@annadowrick), Prof. Lisa Linden (@LindenLisa) and Dr. Cian O'Donovan (@cian) for the panel and our across disciplines and collab/ publishing workshops.

Excellent and thought-provoking recap from the workshop yesterday.
We will continue building on these disussions/ and debates around doing interdisciplinary STS further in the workshop today.
Thank you so much @Ola_Michalec
Our next session is on Public Engagement. In this session we are going to discuss ways of communicating interdisciplinary STS research to a mixture of audiences (e.g., NGO's, charities, public services, academic audiences)
Brilliant discussions from everyone today so far!
