@pittparents 2. the fact that mary steinbeck settled down, had children and married doesn’t really combat the “leftist” view that she was trans, but had no way around it and was stuck in a society in which there was only one way- see how john steinbecks writes about her gender distress
@pittparents https://t.co/M9MXDrssiq
there’s 2 problems with this.
1. steinbeck was WELL known for changing or altering real life people and events for his books- can’t look at his real sister for evidence about what he really thought about gender, likely he was using the mary as a lesson
@StoneLily12169@Erin4Parents@DavidRCampbell6 i’ve worked with teens and have been a trans teenager. i can tell you right now the response from most trans teenagers- shutdown, refusal to have a conversation, the teen feels betrayed and misunderstood and shelters themselves more
do you think they’ll detransition after that?
@StoneLily12169@Erin4Parents@DavidRCampbell6 suppose you get your wish- the school is legally required to tell you that your child has been putting the “wrong” name on paperwork.
think long and honestly. do you really think the school getting involved in secrets between child and parent is gonna help the relationship?
@StoneLily12169@Erin4Parents@DavidRCampbell6 i tested my father with little stuff for YEARS, articles id show him about gay people. it always ended in an argument or a complete dismissal of their life.
so i knew when i came out he would scream at me and not come to my wedding. and i was right. i wish i wasnt
@StoneLily12169@Erin4Parents@DavidRCampbell6 yeah and it hurts your parental ego that your child either doesn’t trust you to answer these major life questions or doesn’t want your answers
your kids know you better than you think they do, and they know exactly how you’ll react. they test you with little stuff
@tamarashapiro@Erin4Parents@DavidRCampbell6 that’s where the 1st amendment comes in, no religion in schools.
but kids grow up to be adults and have their own minds- that’s what school is for, developing critical thinking.
you just want only the critical thinking you present
@FacultyVictor33@CocoaMochaCrml she was happy to employ trans people before anyone else and before they were a controversy. she said if she had been born a boy, she would be a drag queen. she competed in drag shows as herself and lost. she’s paid for people’s transition surgeries.
she is a progressive
@catsiesxx@fresiimilkk i’ve loved showing all the transphobes how much dolly supported trans people as well.
she employed them, fought for them, paid for their surgeries, went to their events- she IS a drag queen

@KDansky dolly’s long time chauffeur driver was a trans man, she’s on record paying for people’s surgeries and fighting for our legislation.
she would despise you
I’m sure there are so many stories like this, but I once complimented the artwork in a friend’s living room—it was a piece by a trans artist friend of his who, at some point, sent Dolly a fan letter along w/ one of her pieces. Dolly’s team responded & paid for her top surgery🥲🦋
