There has been administrative loopholes on the part of #VIMSAR hospital ,Burla, and Jayprakash hospital Rourkela. We are neither allowed to give phone to her, nor we are allowed to see our patient. Our patient complains of cold temperatures inside the room.

and scenarios which we are facing right now.

1. In contrast to the reported cases, real the number of positive cases are much higher which has been suppressed by the authorities. We fear that it is more than 50 at this moment. The cases have been increasing rapidly everyday.

2. The first batch of COVID positive cases was out on 25th February, but instead of intervention by authorities, the final year students had to sit for a 4-hour offline examination the very next day amidst fear and anxiety regarding the spreading of coronavirus.

3. On 27th Feb, a notice was released by the college authorities citing the closure of physical classes for students of 2nd and 3rd year. However, the schedule of 7th-semester examinations remained unaffected. If the physical classes are terminated to prevent the spreading of ...

appearing semester exams which may finally lead them to a situation where they will have to jeopardize their job offers ultimately risking their lives because of mandatory exams. This is also a reason why the reported numbers are much lesser than the reality.

It is clearly due to a lack of assurance by the authorities regarding the safety of students.

5. The day scholars who are not residing in the hostel will also come to appear exams and they have to sit together with hostel students who are already in containment zones.

This can lead to the spreading of coronavirus from day scholars to hostel students and vice versa.

We have seen that the surge in cases of coronavirus in Maharashtra took place from schools and colleges and more than 250 students and 70 teachers were found to be positive in a very short period.

In the afternoon of 27th Feb, students & staffs of Pulaha Hall of Residence were tested for COVID19, and another batch of COVID positive cases were out. Following to which, at least 50 to 100 students left the hostel for their homes.

If this goes on and necessary actions are not taken to curb the procedure of offline examinations and the University remains open, then VSSUT might as well turn out to be the next COVID Hotspot in Odisha.
