The FCAS is dead. Long live the GCAP!
🇫🇷 France and 🇩🇪 Germany have reportedly decided to halt development of the Future Combat Air System after years of delays and industrial disputes.
Counterintuitively, this may not be bad news for European strategic autonomy.
With FCAS effectively shelved, Berlin is now more likely to join the 🇮🇹 Italy–🇬🇧 United Kingdom–🇯🇵 Japan Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP), a project in which Germany has already expressed interest.
If that happens, Europe could finally concentrate its resources, industrial expertise and political capital on a single next-generation fighter platform.
For decades, Europe's defence industry has been weakened by duplication, fragmentation and competing national programmes.
One common solution would be a major step towards a stronger and more integrated European defence industrial base.
The missile stores for the Russian Baltic fleet are gone. Ukraine is systematically destroying the Russian fleet because Russia cannot be a great power without a navy.
Every ruble Russia has to spend on replacing a navy is less money for land and airpower to invade Ukraine with going forward.

🇷🇺⚔️🇺🇦 Russia is losing 35,000 troops a month. The Ukrainians want to push that to 50,000.
In an exclusive interview, US Senator and combat veteran @CaptMarkKelly just got back from Odessa. He finished his panel at the opera house and went straight into a bunker.
"We get our panel done and then we've gotta go into the bunker because Odessa's under attack."
This is what the war actually looks like. Not the ceasefire theatre. Not Trump's phone calls. The ground truth.

JUST NOW: IRGC Chief Ahmad Vahidi, who vowed yesterday to turn the Gulf of Oman into a graveyard for the U.S. Navy and end Israel’s existence, has been killed in Israeli airstrikes today.

A fire broke out at the Arsenal plant in St. Petersburg, Russia.
According to preliminary reports, a hangar containing chemical reagents caught fire.
The blast wave was reportedly so powerful that it punched through a brick wall.
The plant produces naval artillery systems, launch systems for warships, missile components, and space equipment.
Iran’s Minister of Intelligence Esmaeil Khatib was killed overnight in a precision strike, a senior Israeli official told Fox News.
The U.S. government had been offering a reward for information on Khatib, who was responsible for overseeing Iran's entire global terror apparatus.
"His network specifically targeted current and former U.S. officials, including President Donald Trump," the official added.

Everyone is debating whether the missile was an RBS 15 or not.
I think they're asking the wrong question.
The real story is how Ukraine combined sea drones, UAVs, intelligence assets and long-range precision weapons into a single kill chain.
One drone forces the radar to activate.
One sensor confirms the target.
One missile exploits the opening.
That's not a missile story.
That's a systems engineering story.
And every engagement generates data for the next generation of weapons.
Russia may be helping Saab improve Gungnir faster than any peacetime test program ever could.

No aluminium for the Russian war machine.
Recent investigations into alumina exports raise serious concerns about European-produced materials entering supply chains linked to Russia's military-industrial complex.
Aluminium is a critical component in the production of Russian missiles, drones, military aircraft, and other weapons used daily against Ukraine and its people.
We welcome the Irish authorities' decision to launch an official investigation and expect it to be conducted swiftly, independently, and transparently.
European production and supply chains must not contribute, directly or indirectly, to sustaining Russia's war machine.
Instead, Russia must be deprived of access to any and all critical resources and materials. Earlier EU restrictions on cellulose and chrome have made a real difference. Now is the time to apply the same approach to alumina.
Ukraine will continue working with Ireland, EU institutions, and international partners to strengthen sanctions pressure on Moscow and close gaps that enable Russia's defence industry to operate.
