The rocks here at the ancient river delta are amazing, but so far none has been perfect for #SamplingMars. Some too fragile, some too jagged, but I’m sure I’ll find the right one soon – I’m not called Perseverance for nothing.

Great story about the work of @danimanitoba1 , a graduate of @UWGeography supervised by @NoraCasson. Excellent work Dani! @uwinnipeg Guelph grad student's work helps Indigenous students feel welcome on campus | CBC News https://t.co/4YYMyEFqtK
From earlier, distant views, my team nicknamed this area “the bacon strip.” (My overhead map shows why.) Now that I’m up on top, we’re calling it “Hogwallow Flats” – and the nearby rocks are a sight to behold. My team is happy as pigs in mud(stone)!

Today I received my bachelor of science in Environmental Studies and Sciences, and streamed in Global Environmental Systems! @uwinnipeg#UWinnipegGrad looking forward to starting my PhD in Planetary Science @LifeAtPurdue@PurdueEAPS (it never ends!) #phdlife
Our students made it out to @NASAJPL for @NASAPersevere Several of them have been doing Mars rover operations and had a chance to meet the rest of the team!
Model of the Perseverance rover and Ingenuity. It was such a pleasure to meet so many people on the team in-person! After doing Mars rover operations for well-over a year, I can finally put some faces to names. @NASAJPL@NASAPersevere
I’m headed westward, skirting the lower part of the river delta on the lookout for good rock targets for #SamplingMars. Soon, I may get my first real taste of the delta.

Ripples and ridges at the delta’s edge. Excited to start science activities at this destination we’ve had in our sights for so long. The finely layered rocks just ahead may be my next target for #SamplingMars.

Behold the “bacon strip.” Now that I’ve made it to the delta, I’m getting a closer look at this section of light-colored rock my team’s been eyeing. Could it be mudstone from the ancient lake? One of many things to check out in my new science campaign: https://t.co/uSbzO0bYRC
A year ago, I watched this little adventurer take its first short hop into the history books. We planned for maybe a few weeks of basic flight tests. Who knew the #MarsHelicopter would still be zipping along, helping inform where I go next? Keep soaring, Ingenuity!
My long haul to the ancient river delta is almost done. Up ahead: layered rocks, laid down in water, sure to hold secrets of what their environment was once like. Could they even give hints about past life? Time will tell…

Still winding my way across the plain to the delta up ahead using my self-driving mode. I’m making good progress, and even hit a new record: 520 meters (0.32 miles) over three consecutive days.

One of our undergrad research students @Stephannconnell is moving onto a PhD at @LifeAtPurdue to continue her research in planetary science @PurdueEAPS. Steph is excited to remain a part of the @NASAPersevere science team doing Mars rover operations! @uwinnipeg@UWGeography
I have had the opportunity to work with Dr. Roger Wiens for well over a year now doing SuperCam rover operations. Now I get to be his PhD student this fall @LifeAtPurdue I’m super excited to continue my journey with @NASAPersevere
I took out my abrasion tool again, for a look inside my next rock target. Mars is starkly beautiful on its surface, and even more interesting underneath. #SamplingMars
