A. Not your imagination. Young birds have fledged, which means the population has maybe doubled. Young birds are adult-sized when they fledge so you wouldn't know from size. There've been 2 doz or more at Milford Point on some days. #ospreynation https://t.co/kzfAWTRbE2
Q. Is it my imagination or has there been a large increase in the osprey population in my area in just the last month?! I live on the water in Milford. I know that the chicks are probably joining their parents this time of year but they don't look that small.
This Osprey Nation map is the place to go if you want to see where all 900 osprey nests in the state of Connecticut are located. @CTAudubon photo courtesy of Brendan Murtha https://t.co/rKJdxqZyGx
Read about the conservation efforts that contributed to the local success of piping plovers, which come to CT every spring to breed but had been nearly wiped out of the state in the 1980s. @nhregister@CTAudubon

"4 decades of conservation...paying off: in recent years, CT’s piping plover population has quadrupled...& with roughly 1/3 of this year’s fledglings hatched at Milford Point, the sandbar appears to be playing a growing role in the plovers’ survival" https://t.co/evS5exvBL1
Milford Point Coastal Center: With a record nesting season, one CT sandbar plays a critical role in piping plover comeback from @hearstctmg & @meg_friedmann https://t.co/evS5exvBL1
I just wrote this for @CTAudubon: "Northern Bobwhite joins the list of breeding birds at the Bafflin Preserve in Pomfret. But for this grassland species, there’s more to the story" Jeff Fengler took the photo https://t.co/Ks676jx4CB

Shorebirds are arriving at Milford Point. It's a great time to view them. But please visit as the tide is dropping & walk below the high tide line. It's for the good of the birds, who are here to feed and rest. https://t.co/sxfulb3Dsm
One good sign that Ospreys are fledging: a visitor to @CTAudubon's Milford Pt Coastal Center yesterday saw 35 (!) Ospreys. The young birds on the Coastal Center are still showing off on the Osprey Cam https://t.co/gZJvPr8OIE
So much good conservation and the result is so many Piping Plovers this year at Milford Point. Thank you, diligent volunteers & staff, & to the visitors who keep an eye on this threatened species https://t.co/NTFOdePjPP
