The program struggled. Vanderbilt publicly acknowledged serious culture and player/staff relationship problems during her tenure. After five seasons, they fired her.

Then came Connecticut—the ONE stretch everybody points to whenever White’s coaching ability gets questioned.

Now she’s back in Indiana, and we’re watching the same fundamental problems become impossible to ignore.

Indiana has the #1 OFFENSE IN THE WNBA.

And somehow Stephanie White has them sitting 12TH OUT OF 15 TEAMS DEFENSIVELY, allowing 91 POINTS PER GAME.

That’s INSANE.

You have Caitlin Clark.

You have Kelsey Mitchell.

You have enough offensive firepower to terrorize this league.

And instead of building a complete basketball team around that talent, Indiana routinely has to win shootouts because THEY CAN’T STOP ANYBODY.

Bad defensive possessions.

Questionable rotations.

Inconsistent adjustments.

Players getting lost.

Leads disappearing.

And every night we’re supposed to pretend coaching has nothing to do with it?

ENOUGH.

When the offense is carrying you while the defense remains near the basement of the league, eventually the person designing the system has to answer for it.

This isn’t Vanderbilt anymore.

This isn’t a rebuilding roster.

This isn’t a team without talent.

THIS IS A 27-15 TEAM WITH THE BEST OFFENSE IN THE WNBA BEING HELD BACK BY A DEFENSE RANKED 12TH.

That’s what makes this so frustrating.

Indiana doesn’t need Stephanie White to perform some miracle.

THE TALENT IS ALREADY THERE.

They need somebody to organize it, maximize it, make adjustments and build a defense that doesn’t require Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell to win a damn track meet every night.

And Fever fans are watching the consequences in real time.

The Fever don’t have a talent problem.

They have a coaching problem.

How much longer should Indiana waste championship-level offensive talent waiting for Stephanie White to fix a defense that STILL can’t consistently stop anybody???

Clark returns. She leads the W in turnovers, while shooting abysmally & being the 3rd worst defender in the league.

We are at halftime of Indiana vs Washington, and Indiana has looked ROUGH.

My thoughts on Indiana so far:

- No defensive effort
- Abhorrent FG% — They’re 9/37 as a team
- Stephanie White is not making any adjustments (this has happened all season)
- If Kelsey Mitchell gets a touch 95% of the time, she’s going to shoot. Never passes, even with teammates open. She’s 4/13
- Caitlin Clark’s teammates are looking her off. Washington is probably thankful.
- Team looks uninspired/no emotion
- Refs have done a great job

All of their flaws go back to terrible coaching. Indiana has won in spite of Stephanie White all season. She will be the reason that Indiana doesn’t win in the playoffs.

Just an embarrassing all around effort.

None of his numbers include streaming plus cable viewership of games on linear TV. Also missing is viewership from Canada. The WNBA has a Toronto team & Canadian ratings are included in NBA, NHL & MLB games. It's not for the NFL.

For three straight years.

For 2026, the Fever are again controlling the television landscape. At this point in the season, the Fever have appeared in all five of the league’s most watched games, including broadcasts averaging 2.64 million, 2.58 million, 2.56 million and 2.50 million viewers. Their opening weekend game against Dallas became the second most watched WNBA regular season game ever on ESPN networks.

Caitlin Clark remains the central driver, but the exposure has led fans to form connections with Aliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell, Sophie Cunningham and the entire franchise. They follow the team at home, travel to road games, buy merchandise and consistently deliver national audiences.

The Indiana Fever fan base has helped change the WNBA’s financial ceiling. The league now has more leverage with networks, sponsors, advertisers, arenas and future investors because Fever fans raised the bar.
