@ReservoirDubs@jmpc79@KildareFan2025 I've no idea what foul you're referencing from 15 years ago. Evidently it's living rent free in your head though. I had to actively think of any contentious decision from Kerry v Dublin games. Dublin got 10 frees, Kerry 5. Think ref was alright and game was free flowing.
@ReservoirDubs@jmpc79@KildareFan2025 Not sure of the foul from 2011 you're referencing. If it's the foul for the last point it's definitely a foul. Only big ref miss I remember is Muchans steps in 2019 but I think more than 4 steps should be allowed anyways. Think umpires and refs getting raw deal after this game
@ReservoirDubs@jmpc79@KildareFan2025 First foul of the game set precedence for the pen. Both very soft, personally think neither are fouls and Dublin scored a 2pt from it. Square ball is a square ball. Closer than a lot of people think though as if DoC connects with the ball outside of the square then it isnt
@ReservoirDubs@jmpc79@KildareFan2025 It's more likely a goal than not. However, it's a hard decision and goal line tech for the one controversial goal line decision this year isn't wise, just causes our ticket prices to increase. People acting like umpires only have one job. They may have got it wrong, get over it
@ReservoirDubs@jmpc79@KildareFan2025 I don't know how anyone looks at that and thinks it's definitively a goal. If you don't think it's close then you're just being biased. There's a reason no Dubs shouted for a goal, they didn't think it was in and Scully could have been sent off for giving 2 dogs after.
@Joeythemoon87@AdamMoynihan Pretty much textbook position, green flag is on the far side of the goal from the picture above, he's pretty close to being perfectly in line
@Joeythemoon87@AdamMoynihan No Dublin player even appealed for it. No one thought it was a goal. Apart from Scully should should have been sent off as a result of giving Foley and Breen digs.
@DubsforSam1@BlaineLyne@jimmydabigeasy Completely irrelevant to the current rule though. Rule:
4.10 For an attacking player to enter opponents’
small rectangle before the ball enters it during
the play.
'Before the ball enters it during the play' and he could have connected with the ball outside the small rec.
@DubsforSam1@BlaineLyne@jimmydabigeasy Can stand anywhere before the ball is kicked
4.10 For an attacking player to enter opponents’
small rectangle before the ball enters it during
the play.
That's the current rulebook definition of a square ball
@rebelsabu2@mlverney That's Googles AI, Gemini, and comes up in AI search mode where it's using AI to search reddit etc, hence why there's links provided
@GerOnSport@damien_roo78640@ballsdotie Well that's literally the rule, quoted from the rulebook. You saying otherwise doesn't mean anything. Cite the rule of don't reply.
@rebelsabu2@mlverney I wouldn't be asking AI about anything GAA related. He gains possession of the ball outside of the square, once he does that he's allowed be in the square
@GerOnSport@damien_roo78640@ballsdotie 4.10 For an attacking player to enter opponents’
small rectangle before the ball enters it during
the play.
Sure reads as if that's how the rule is meant to work.
@damien_roo78640@GerOnSport@ballsdotie Hard thing to judge whether or not DoC has connected with the ball outside or inside the square though, if it's outside it's a goal, if it's inside it's a square ball
@rebelsabu2@mlverney Doesn't this just show my point? He's in the square but the ball's outside the square, possibly? Or possibly not? Are you 100% sure either way if it's in or not? Hard thing for an umpire to judge
@rebelsabu2@mlverney 4.10 For an attacking player to enter opponents’
small rectangle before the ball enters it during
the play.
Nah the ball has to enter the small rectangle
@rebelsabu2@mlverney That's irrelevant, can stand in the square all day, can't be in the square before the ball arrives into the square, if he connects with the ball outside the square then he's in possession and it's not a square ball. Yes it's an unusual one
@yellowbelly95@TheSundayGame Maybe is the correct answer. I don't know if it's in or outside of the square but twitter seems to be adamant it's 100% a square ball. I'm far more on the fence about it.
