The same Lightfoot administration that refused to accept masks and COVID-19 tests from the State of Illinois is the same administration that used federal relief funding meant for the City to repay Chase Bank debt in 2021, which was against U.S. Treasury Dept. regulations.
When I went to @SennHS I was fortunate to have @SharkeyCTU1 as a teacher. Please stand with the @CTULocal1 they do care for the children and made the right choice to not hold classes with the Covid situation worsening at the moment. All Chicago public schools deserve better.
The @CTULocal1 proposed that a neutral arbitrator come in to settle the differences between us and @chicagosmayor Lightfoot and she dismissed the idea immediately. Why? What is she afraid of? Is it about her ego or what's best for students? Please end the #LoriLockout Ms. Mayor.
Just for clarity: teachers are not being paid right now. They are not collecting unemployment or being “paid to stay home.” Locked out teachers are not being paid and some teachers have told me they have been unable to use their health insurance because they show up as “inactive”
SEIU 73 support staff in the schools stand with @CTULocal1 . Hundreds of members have taken zero days or benefit days to stand in solidarity during the CTU lockout. We need strict metrics and safety measures in our schools to keep our staff, children, and communities safe.
A neighbor is a Chicago charter school teacher. Her school went remote 2 weeks before winter break & this whole last week. They have metrics in place to trigger remote. Yet Mayor Lightfoot would rather cancel school then keep Chicago Public Schools students safe. #LoriLockout

CPS, you must honor the agreement to protect workers and students alike, particularly with a rise in hospitalizations for children due to COVID-19.
As always, we stand in solidarity with @CTULocal1 in the fight for safe working conditions. ✊

“I definitely don't want extended virtual learning, but I don't know why Mayor Lightfoot thinks that no learning is better than remote learning," #LoriLockout https://t.co/PEkH9C3AA4
The fourth national appearance this week. At least. To tap into national furor, avoid hard questions from more knowledgeable reporters and keep focus only on the binary. An old tactic.
Chicago's issues go deeper. The mayor needs to be present and more transparent about them.
From Capital Fax followed up with the governor’s office about what Pritzker was offering CPS and he was told the state had offered SHIELD tests, vaccination clinics and masks for the past several weeks. The city has not yet taken the state up on those offers.
Lori Lightfoot (@chicagosmayor): "Listen to the science! Schools are safe!"
The Science: 44.1% of COVID cases in Illinois can be traced back to exposure in schools.
✊We support @CTULocal1. In person learning is not safe right now.

What Chicago nurses are seeing right now, says RN Falguni Dave, is "nothing short of a real-life nightmare."
Solidarity with the teachers of @CTULocal1 fighting for #RemoteLearning to keep their students and communities safe during this dangerous surge! #LoriLockout
