@friede Having worked with products that featured fragrance as a selling point, I believe the formula is the IP but it's often a joint development if a brand has no fragrance expertise. The subjective nature of evaluating/comparing fragrance is a wild endeavor.

Maybe it's shrewd marketing decision-makers. Maybe it's the turnover of experienced people.

@friede @LauraBaileyVO While not an idea exclusive to CR. I was definitely thinking of Fjord when I was negotiating with my DM about my Cleric sacrificing something that was important to him. It felt like it made sense narratively and would lead to a more interesting story for the party overall.

And I don't think people generally want to admit to themselves that they spent thousands of dollars and had a subpar experience.
